"Sooo, I guess it's my duty to have the talk now..." Rebecca started, making me choke on the glass of wine I was drinking.Giving her a look, I shook my head at her, hoping that she wouldn't even go there. But knowing my best friend, I knew that she would completely ignore my wishes.
A smirk at me, and when she opened up her mouth again, I quickly hid my face into Daniel's shoulder, trying to not listen to the words that I knew would leave her mouth right now.
"This is Lizzie's first relationship, or... real one. And I do love seeing you two together, and I see the way my bestie here is shining in your presence. But..." Stopping herself for a second, I looked up in the corner of my eyes, before turning my gaze onto Daniel who looked down at me at the feeling my myself shifting in his arms.
Of course he was smirking, clearly enjoying seeing me squirming in my own skin because of Rebecca. "I'm sorry for this..." I mouthed at him, only to get a kiss planted on my head.
"If you even dare hurting her, or simply just does anything to make her sad, I'll take the first plane, hell I'll even run from London to Monte-Carlo and hunt you down, not matter how freaking fast you are in a car, and I'll punch you in the face. Do you understand?"
Glancing over at my best friend, and seeing how serious she tried to look in this moment, I bursted out into laughter as this wasn't who she usually was. Rebecca had always been the goofy one of us two, the center of a party and the one always coming up with the most crazy ideas to even exists. If there ever was anyone who got a bit serious with things, it usually was me, not her.
And of course she couldn't keep up with the straight face much longer with me laughing, having both her and Daniel join me quickly as our laughing noises took over all the other sounds in the restaurant.
After what felt like forever, with no sign of stopping my laughter, I eventually started to cool down as I dried the tears that formed in my eyes while shaking my head at my company.
"Honestly, if you look that scary while hunting me down, I'll forever be scared to hurt my babe's heart. So I promise, here and now, to never hurt Lizzie, never ever." Daniel said as he held his hand forward over the table doing a pinky promise with my best friend.
My body was filled with gratefulness while watching the two that clearly meant the most in my life right now at the same table. Especially as I had been extremely nervous for this day to come, for Rebecca to finally meet Daniel that she'd only heard about through my words over the phone to this day. And to see the two of them chatting away about stuff, and none of them feeling left out was the best feeling for me, to see how Daniel was quickly accepted by Rebecca, and that Daniel didn't feel awkward around my friends. Not that I was really afraid that Rebecca wouldn't accept him, because I knew that Daniel was that kind of a person that everyone loved, he simply had that aura around him and from how he made me feel the first time we hang out, inviting me to talk and put his all attention on me every single time, it was impossible not to like the man.
Rebecca was sad that she couldn't join us at Silverstone, but Daniel assured both her and I that we would be able to bring her with us to a race in the future, making the two of them already plan out whether we could join Daniel in Abu Dhabi in the season finale, and Rebecca as the spontaneous person she is, immediately started planning on it.
And honestly, I couldn't picture a better way to fly away from Monaco in the beginning of December, having Daniel and Rebecca with me and see Daniel drive his MCL35M around the streets in Abu Dhabi for one last time this season.
"So, have you two figured out how to work this relationship out when Lizzie's contract in Monaco is ending? Or have you heard anything about it being extended yet?"
