Chapter 3:The Lost Orb

We had landed in the Sea of Sapphires,in the mid-day sun it was gleaming like,well,Sapphires.Kaida and I landed in the East Coast where there were trees,we rested in the shade with our dragons,and after a while we began to talk.

"So why is this called the Sea of Sappphires?"I asked.

"It was said that in the olden days,when the elements of existence were making their lairs,Leviathan and Terrafang got into a fight,and the winner would have their lair made by the loser.In the end Leviathan won and so Terrafang kept his word.He made a massive crater with his powers,then he made a thousand sapphires and filled them here,then Haikira was asked to melt the Saphhires,she did and that was how the Sea of Sapphires was made"Kaida said.

"Why'd they have to make a lair?Why not just go in a cave like the creatures of destruction?"I asked.

"Because a cave coudn't contain their magic,the elements have more magic than three Mania's combined,they needed a place that was big enough to allow their magic to flow freely"Kaida said.

"So what-"I was cut off.

"Artemis,enough questions we have to awaken Leviathan"Kaida said.

Growling,I took a step forward and continued walking,glaring at Kaida.In my stupidity I didn't look where I was going,so I tripped on a tree root and let go of the orb of water,the orb was flung into the water and sunk.My jaw dropped,I was too afraid to turn in Kaida's direction.

"Uh oh"I muttered.

"Uh oh?Uh oh!?You let the orb get into the water,do you have any idea where it is!?"she shouted,I stood up and removed the sand on my clothes.

"It's just where I left it,no problem"I said.

"The current is stronger than a dragon's tail force!The orb could be anywhere,if anythig gets in there it never comes back!"Kaida said,calming down.

"Why not let the dragons go in?"I asked.

"Didn't you just hear me!?The current is stronger than a dragons tail force,their wings will be mangled in seconds!"

She sighed and I sat down.

"I'm sorry"I said.

Just before she was gonna say something,a figure pounced at Kaida and sent her flying,then we heard laughter.

"Who did that!?"Kaida asked.

"Oh,so you forgot about your friend?"a voice said,me and Kaida grinned and hugged the skywolf.

"Hunter,what are you doing here?"I asked.

"We're moving to prism peak"Hunter said.

"Why what happened to Tempest's Haven?"I asked.

"It got raided,by Avdimi,he came and wanted to see Lux,we tried to hold him back,but he was just to powerful,miraculously we beated him,when he retreated,Skylord decided we stay in Prism Peaks"Hunter said.

"Sorry to hear that,but how's Rogue?"Kaida asked.

"Okay,she's aging slowly,which is normal for elementals"Hunter said.

"Hunter could you help us with something?"Kaida asked.

"What?"Hunter asked.

"Could you retrieve our blue orb?It's there"Kaida said,pointing at the water,Hunter nodded and I looked at Kaida.

"You'll kill him!"I shouted.

"No,his wings are stronger and can handle the current,because thats how strong the winds are in Tempest's Haven,at night"Kaida said,I nodded and sat down.

We waited for a good while,every now and then Hunter's soaked head would pop up before diving,I had to say,for a creature half the size of a dragon,he handled the current well,after a while he popped up with an orb in his mouth,he dropped it in the sand and shook his body,little droplets flying everywhere,then he plopped his body before it,exhausted.

"Thanks"Kaida said,ruffling the fur on his head,he grunted and walked under a tree and lied down,resting his muscles.

Me and Kaida shrugged,then I looked at the orb,it had a yellow writing now,I coudn't read it then Kaida grabbed it.

"Huh,says here how to awaken Leviathan"Kaida said.

"The sea so deep,
Where monsters creep,
Let their master rise
Leviathan,Water he rules wise"she read aloud.

Then nine pillars of rushing water arose from the center of the sea,in the center of the nine pillars a whirlpool formed,almost reaching the bottom of the sea,in the whirlpool a dark blue figure leaped out and dove back in,making waves as tall as a dragon.

The same dark blue form was speeding across the water,towards us,when it reached us it raised it's head over the water and the pillars and whirlpool completely disappeared,Kaida and I were in awe,it craned it's neck and the sun made it's scales glisten.He awkwardly got out of the water and I could see him in all his glory.

"Leviathan"Kaida muttered.

Leviathan was a deep blue,a shade darker than the sea,he had orange eyes with brown irises,his snout was long and his teeth were revealed even if he shut his mouth.At the back ofhis head there were two frills,a spine that began from the back of his head where the frills were,and ended just before the three long spikes of near the end of his tail.

He had webbed fore arms and smaller fins which served as his legs.He had an underbelly the same color as the sea,so it blended in.His tail had three long spike-like hooks at the end,at the tip of his tail was was three more spikes the shape of a trident connecting him was a fin-like membrane,later on I found out he could extend his trident-like tail to make it wider,increasing his speed in the water.

"So why did ye summon me lass?"Leviathan asked,for an intimidating creature,he had a soothing voice.

"We need help"I asked.

"I see so the prophecy was true,did'nt believe it first,but now I do,very well I shall help ye lass,but first where's my orb?"Leviathan asked.

"Here"Kaida said,raising it.

"Wait!"I said,remembering something.

"What is it lad?"Leviathan asked,Kaida glared at me.

"Was it true that you fought Terrafang and he lost,so he made the Sea of Sapphires with a thousand real sapphires?"I asked.

"Yes lad,yer correct"Leviathan said,grinning at the memory.

"Why'd you fight Terrafang?"I asked

"I accidently stepped on Terrafang's tail when he was resting,right where the dog is,so the lad got mad and started a fight,the others watched,laughing"Leviathan said,Kaida giggled,I smiled.

"Anyways,I'll regenerate my powers in the orb,if ye needs me,just say the encantation and i'll get out"Leviathan said.

So Kaida threw the orb at Leviathan and with his extemted tail he caught it and said something I didn't understand and then his body glowed Sky blue and he turned into orbs,then the orbs were sucked into the orb.Kaida picked it up and grinned.

"One down,three to go"Kaida said,we had decided to sleep in the mangroves,and later at night Hunter awoke as we were about to sleep.

"Hey,could I join you?It's been a while since I had some excitement in my life"Hunter said.

"What about Scarlet and Rogue,they'll be worried"Kaida said.

"Nope,they're used to me going on little adventures"Hunter said.

"Come on Kaida,just like old times"I said,pleading.

"Fine,but go to sleep"Kaida said,sighing.

(At the morning)

"Artemis,come on!The dragons and Hunter are waiting,the Terra Firma Forest is a one-day flight"Kaida said,shaking me.

Begrudgingly,I nodded.
