James carried me inside his house, and I didn't even have the chance to look around from how tired I was. He carried me upstairs, or what I felt to be upstairs, and placed me in the comfiest set of sheets I have ever been in. They were soft, silky, and they felt like I was laying on a cloud. "Go to sleep doll, I'll be right here," he whispered, kissing the top of my head softly before I heard him walk off to which I figured he was changing. He was in a suit for god sake.
A few minutes later, the bed dipped next to me, and his arm wrapped around my body, pulling me closer to him while being very careful of my wound. His body was warm, and with the mixture of the sheets I fell asleep almost immediately. But now that I was out of the hospital, the nightmares started running in.
"Jessica," a voice stated, "you know what time it is."
"No. No please!" I exclaimed, "I've been good!"
"Have you?" He asked, and the cage opened to show the man I kicked in the face, "because you escaped us. But you're back now."
Wait? Did I never escape? Did James never find me? What? No.
"I was good! I don't understand!" I exclaimed, "no! No please don't hurt me! No!"
"No!" I screamed, my body sitting up immediately and checking my surroundings. James was watching me concerned, and I placed my head in my hands, "I'm sorry..."
"Don't be sorry doll, that's why I'm here," he said softly, "lay back down sweetheart."
"But. But."
"No buts. You're safe. I'm right here next to you," he whispered reassuringly, "I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." His hands roamed my shoulders as he tried to lightly pull me back down with him, and I finally gave into his words.
"Okay," I whispered, "okay." And I slowly came back down, but flipped to touch my hand to his cheek.
"Are you okay?" He asked, "do you want to talk about it?"
"I'm okay James," I said softly, rubbing my thumb lightly across his cheek, "it's just going to take a while to adjust."
"You know you can tell me anything," he whispered, and I nodded, "okay. Just get a few more hours of sleep and I'll make you breakfast tomorrow morning. Sound good?"
"Chocolate strawberry pancakes?" I asked, and hummed quietly.
"Chocolate strawberry pancakes," he yawned, "go back to sleep doll."
"Goodnight," I whispered, closing my eyes and snuggling into his body.
"Goodnight Jessica," he whispered back, watching me until he knew I fell asleep. I didn't know that he hadn't slept each night in the hospital because he needed to know I was okay, or that he made sure to protect me with every nurse that entered the room. But thankful he got a few hours of sleep after he realized I was in a peaceful dream.
-The next morning-
I woke up to the smell of chocolate pancakes. Mmmmmm. I sat up in the dark room, my eyes slowly adjusting to the light that was allowed in. I first looked down at the sheets. It was a black, silky looking material that shimmered in the darkness. His walls were a dark grey, and the theme was black and charcoal grey. My eyes scanned the dark room, liking the dark carpet, the dark walls, and the dark cabinets. I pushed myself out of bed, forcing my legs to move with each step. Thankfully he had a lot to grab onto, so I was able to make it downstairs! Yay! Progress.
I pushed my way into where I figured was the kitchen, out of breath as I collapsed into the chair behind James. He turned around with wide eyes, a smirk on his face as he flipped a pancake. "Did you?"
