I couldn't sleep the night before our wedding. Mostly because I wasn't with James, because it's supposed to be "bad luck" if he sees the bride the night before. I laid in my bed, staring up into the ceiling. My nerves were at an all time high, so I decided to screw it and head to James' guest room. I opened the door slowly, seeing his face lit up from his computer as I entered the room.

"J-James?" I asked, and his head looked up to stare at me.

"Hey doll," he smiled, "what's up? Everything okay?"

"No," I whispered, "I can't sleep."

"I can't either," he said softly, "come here."

I sniffled as I climbed under the covers, clinging on to James, as his hands rubbed my back, "I tried to sleep... I really did."

"You don't have to explain to me doll," he said softly, "I know you don't like sleeping alone."

"It's scary," I whispered, and he nodded his head.

"I know. I know," he whispered back, "just stay with me tonight. Fuck tradition."

"But Yelena wasn't j-"

"Nope. You're staying with me. Out of everybody in the world, the one you're scared of is Belova?"

"No," I whispered, "I'm sorry for bothering you."

"Babydoll," he said softly, "you could never bother me. I'm happy you came in here."

"You are?"

"Yes. Because now I'll finally be able to sleep and stop reading that damn article about pigs that you sent me."

"I told you about the pigs from the criminal minds episode! Wait, you're just now reading it?" I asked, and he nodded his head, "better late than never I guess."

"Now please just go to sleep," he yawned, "I'm right here with you."

"Did you know that pigs can't sweat?"

"Jessica," he warned.

"Okay I'm sorry," I sighed, "I'm going to bed."

"Good. I don't want you having bags under your eyes at the altar," he whispered, and I gave him a worried look, "what is it doll? This is more than you just not being able to sleep."

"You don't regret proposing to me do you?" I asked, "I know I'm a handful, and I am never quiet.. I just don't want you to regret-"

"I don't," he replied shortly.

"I don't want you to leave me..." I whispered, "cause this is a big commitment."

"And you are the one person I would ever do it with," he answered, "I could never leave you. Even when you had to break up with me, I knew we wouldn't be away for long. You are the one person I want to spend the rest of my life with."

"But what happens if you fall for another girl?" I asked, and he gave me a warm smile.

"I will- "

My heart dropped.

"-and she's going to call you mom."

"I'm so lucky to have you," I said quietly, "you have no idea what you've done for me."

"I don't need an idea," he smiled, "because I've seen the change in your personality. Now please just go to sleep."

"Okay," I yawned, "goodnight. I love you."

"I love you too beautiful." And he kissed me goodnight.

The next morning came faster than I expected. And before I knew it, I was standing with Steve, my stomach filled with butterflies.
