December 17th
We decided to decorate for Christmas.
Lets just say it didn't go as planned. We had already gotten the boxes for ornaments and the tree, and James stood in front of them like a lost puppy.
I came up behind him, wrapping my arms around his torso, "James?"
"Yes darling?"
"Do you not decorate for Christmas?" I asked, and he turned around to face me, cupping my face in his hands. He shook his head as a frown formed on my face, "okay. I'm making this the best decorating year you've ever had."
"Doll it's okay," he laughed, "I haven't celebrated Christmas since my mom died."
"Oh..." I paused, "do you don't even know about mistletoe?"
"What about mistletoe? That it's poisonous?" He asked, and I shook my head.
"That if you end up beneath it with someone, you for example, with me, you have to kiss that person," I smiled, and James looked like he got an idea, "I know that look James what idea did you just get?"
"I know the perfect place," he smiled, "where is it?"
"Oh over here," I laughed, jogging over to the counter and grabbing the green ball of leaves to hand to him. He grabbed it with a smile, and held it over my head.
"Like this?" He asked, licking his lips as I started laughing.
"Exactly like that, and here's my response," I whispered, lifting up on my tiptoes to capture his lips in mine. When we pulled away, he looked confused. "What James?"
"Does this work all year?"
"No," I giggled, "just the day after Thanksgiving to the day after Christmas."He gave me a frown, walking off with the mistletoe and not returning. "James? What are you doing?"
"I'm sad you didn't tell me about this after Thanksgiving."
"I would've, but I was more focused on trying to walk," I laughed, and he shook his head with a smile as he re-entered the room. "But do you wanna start?" And he nodded while walking toward me.
"What are we doing first?"
"I was thinking we could do the tree!" I exclaimed, running to the corner of the main room, "we could put it over here! And we can make the ornaments like a themed tree!"
"Sounds perfect doll," James laughed, "what colors?"
"Red and silver! Goes perfect with green and fits Christmas!" I smiled, opening the tree box and trying to set it up by myself.
I felt James pick me up and set me on the couch, "I'll do it."
"Then you better let me help dammit," I ordered, hopping straight back off the couch and hopping on his back, "because it's not fair that I can't carry as much as you."
"I know you're fully capable, but I don't need you tearing a muscle from carrying this," he laughed, "you're very small and I think you forget that. You fall over and this thing buries you alive."
"I'm not that short."
"How tall is the tree?" He asked, raising a brow.
"9 feet."
"And how tall are you?"
"5'4."
"Exactly," he laughed, and I huffed as I knew he was right, "just let me set it up and then you can help."
"Fine. Then what can I do right now?" I asked with a pout, and James gave me a smile.
"Go put on some music, decorate other stuff," he laughed, "I'm just doing one thing."
"Ooh I have the perfect idea!" I exclaimed, running off to grab his speaker, "be right back!" When I ran back with his speaker, he had already set the tree up. "Wait. How did you?"
"I told you doll, I'll do it," he laughed, "now what did you want to show me?"
My mind finally remembered why I had the speaker, and I connected my phone to it, playing some happy Christmas songs like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Underneath the Tree.
"Tada!" I exclaimed, hearing music play from around the house, "now we can finally decorate!"
"Go crazy doll, I'm not stopping you."
"Can we do the tree first?" I asked, and he nodded his head, "but you have to pick me up for the star."
"Anything you'd like," he laughed, "where's the stuff?"
"In that box over there," I pointed, grabbing some ornaments from the box and starting to put them on the tree. I sang to myself as Mis Desos/Feliz Navidad came on, pretending I was in a movie. I danced and I sang as James watched me from the box of ornaments with a huge smile on his face.
Before I knew it, the tree had all the ornaments on it. I turned to James with a smile on my face, proud of the work I just accomplished, "do you want to help me with the tinsel?"
"Sure doll," he smiled, grabbing the tinsel and helping me wrap it around the tree. When it was up to my standard, I felt his hands grip my hips and pull me to where my back touched his chest. James started to sway with me, before I turned around and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. "May I have this dance?"
"Always."
We may have gotten a little sidetracked, but it was worth it. We danced for a few songs before finishing the tree, and James and I finished off the night with some hot chocolate, christmas movies, and some more Christmas songs.
James would not stop putting the mistletoe over my head all day, and I laughed every time from how excited he got. It was cute! He had a cheeky grin on his face, and whenever I gave him a kiss, he got all excited. I should have introduced this to him sooner. Dammit Jessica.
I hadn't had a Christmas like this in years. This was the best way to celebrate it.
"I love you James," I blurted, taking a sip of hot chocolate as we cuddled on the couch while watching Home Alone.
"I love you too doll," he laughed, "where's this coming from?"
"My heart," I giggled, "I really do love you. And I'm happy to have you."
"I feel the same way darling," he whispered, kissing the side of my head, "even if you stress me out with your decisions."
"Dude."
"Okay okay I'm sorry," he laughed, "what do you want for Christmas? Anything?"
"You," I winked, "that's all I really need."
"You have to want something," he said softly, and I shook my head, "you're such a handful sometimes."
"Be quiet. What do you want for Christmas?" I asked, raising a brow to prove him wrong.
"Nothing. I have all I could ever need right here," he smiled, poking my nose.
"HA!" I exclaimed, "boom right there. You being a handful too!"
"Touché."
"Suck it James," I giggled, and he gave me a flirty smirk.
"Would you like me too doll? Was that a hint?"
"Dammit you horny son of a bitch," I sighed, and he laughed as I shook my head.
"You never answered my question," he whispered.
"I never said no," I smiled as I bit my lip, "maybe give me an early Christmas present tonight Sarge? Pleaseee?"
"I'm not stopping you beautiful," he said quietly, "but you're the one sitting on top of me."
"See you in five," I winked, running off to our room.
It was a long night.
