Emma was sitting at Eric's desk as she called Luke, and Eric was on his bed reading.

"Yeah, I'll be free tomorrow," Emma said playing with her hair. "Are you coming to state?... Great! Yeah, after the game.... No, I haven't told him." Emma mumbled that last part looking at Eric. "I'll talk to you later? Great! Bye." Emma hung up the phone just as Cory came into the room.

"All right," the little boy started. "I wished real hard for Feeny to get sick so I wouldn't have to take this geography test, and he got sick."

"So?" Eric said nonchalantly.

"So?" Cory patted his chest. "So, I did this to him. I have a gift."

"What gift?" Eric asked.

"Where are you going with this?" Emma added crossing her arms across her chest and furrowing her brows in confusion. Cory looked between the two teens.

"I can make people sick."

"Now, see, I've always known that Cor," Eric told his brother. "Why do you think I sleep with a barf bag?" Eric got off the bed as Cory started talking to him.

"Eric, I'm serious."

"Yeah, like you're the one who made Feeny's appendix blow." Eric told his brother.

"He has appendicitis?"

"Yeah, in fact he's getting operated on right now." Emma spoke.

"An operation. That's bad." Cory rubbed his forehead. "Remember Fluffy, our cat? He died during an operation.

"Cory, Fluffy fell out of a tree, they were trying to sew his head back on." Eric patted his shoulder. "It was big odds going in." Eric walked out of the room and Emma decided to follow him. She quickly turned around and looked at the kid.

"Don't stress about it Cor, you didn't do anything," Emma assured the kid. "I promise." She walked out the door to follow Eric.

Emma put her hands behind her head as she panted heavily. She just got done with conditioning at practice. State was only a few days away, so the team was practicing extra hard.

"I think I'm gonna die." Alicia said panting just as hard. "We've been doing this the whole practice, and we still have five more latter's." She complained. Their coach blew their whistle.

"On the line!" She yelled out. The girls tiredly got on the line and waited for their coach to blow the whistle again. "Go!" the whistle blew, and the girls took off running. Emma paced herself but also tried to keep up with the rest of the girls.

Once they finished with practice Emma went to grab her water and drink like it would be the last time she ever did. Alicia came up to her still panting.

"Have you talked to Eric about the camp?" Alicia asked as she raised her water bottle to her lips. "You leave after state, don't you?" Emma nodded her head.

"Yeah, I'm just not sure how to tell him. I mean his grandma got me in, so it would be rude not to go." Emma spoke.

"You better tell him soon though." Emma nodded at what the girl said. "Hopefully he'll understand, your boyfriend did, didn't he?"

"Yeah, he did, but I told him about this before we started dating." Emma said. Luke finally officially asked Emma to be his girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and Emma felt good that she was finally moving on from Eric; crush wise. "I'm planning on telling him tonight since I leave in two days." Alicia nodded as she took another drink from her water bottle.

------------------------------

Emma was sitting on her bed as she was doing her homework. She heard a knock on her window as saw Eric smiling big and waving at her. She hopped off her bed and open the window.

"Hey Emmy." Eric said climbing into her room.

"Hey Eric," Emma responded. "What's up?"

"Nothing much just bored." Eric told the girl. Emma decided it was now or never.

"Eric, I need to tell you something." Emma hesitated. Eric looked at her.

"Okay, fire away." Eric said as he looked her straight in the eye.

"I'm going to CAL Sports Academy this summer." Eric nodded his head.

"Yeah, you've told me that." Eric said furrowing his brows. Emma took a deep breath and continued.

"Well, it's an overnight camp and it's for the whole summer and I leave after state." Emma couldn't bring herself to look Eric in the eye.

"Oh," was all Eric could say. "Okay. Let's just not worry about that right now, okay?" Eric got up and engulfed Emma into a hug, resting his head on hers. Eric didn't know what to say, he was planning on telling Emma about how he felt; now he couldn't cause she was dating Luke. Boy did he hate Luke. He was then gonna make sure they had the best summer ever; now he can't cause she was going to be away. Eric never felt this hurt before.

------------------------------

Today was the day Emma was leaving to the CAL Sports Academy. Her team had won state and she never felt happier in her entire life; however, she could now feel that happiness slip away as she finished putting her suitcase in the back of her parent's car, she could feel Eric's eyes on her. Yes, Emma had her license, but her parents wanted to drop her off and wish her luck. She finally turned around and met Eric's hazel eyes. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in as she spoke.

"Well, I'll see you before school starts." Emma gave him a small smile. "I'll miss you, Eric." Emma went up to him and gave him a hug. Eric held her tight, like it was the last time he was gonna hold her.

"Please don't go." Eric said not letting her go.

"I'm sorry, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity." Emma said tears in her eyes.

"I just realized this is the first summer we won't spend together." Eric said trying to force out a laugh.

"Eric," Emma complained. "Don't make this any harder than it is."

"Okay Em, it's time to go." Mr. James said as he closed the trunk of the car. Emma and Eric hesitantly pulled away and wiped their tears that were threatening to fall.

"I'll see you at school." Eric sniffled.

"Yeah," Emma said heading backwards towards the car. "I'll see you at school." Emma headed to get in the car. Eric watched as she closed the door and Mr. James pulled out of the driveway. Eric stood and watched the car drive down the street. Mrs. Matthews came up behind her son and wrapped her arms around his shoulders from behind as Mr. Matthews put his hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry Eric, she'll be back." Alan told his son.

"Yes, she's only going a few miles away," Amy added. "And it's just this summer." Eric let out a sigh.

"Yeah, you're right, it's only this summer." Eric spoke. "Let's go back to the house." Eric headed towards the house as Alan and Amy gave each other a knowing glance, then followed their son to their house.

Emma looked out the window of the car not knowing what to think; part of her was excited to go to this academy, but part of her would miss Eric. Mr. James looked at his daughter in the review mirror, "You excited, Em?" he asked. Emma nodded her head.

"Yeah, just tired that's all." Emma said. "You know yesterday was crazy and today is just gonna be long." Mrs. James looked at her daughter and suggested that she took a nap, and that's exactly what Emma did.

Before Eric and Emma will know it, they will be back together, and school will start again, and maybe they both will finally admit their feelings to each other.
