"You looked at any of these?" Mrs. James asked looking through the mail as Emma was spreading butter on her toast. Emma let out a small 'huh?' as she kept spreading butter. "Have you looked at any of these letters?" Mrs. James repeated. "You have some college scholarships for volleyball." Emma walked over to the table, sat down, and began to eat her toast.

"Really?" Emma looked over at some of the letters. "But I don't have to look, let alone apply for college till next year." Emma's mom finished looking through the rest of the letters.

"Yeah," she agreed, "but you've been on varsity since your eighth-grade year. I bet they have been watching you too, along with the seniors." She gave Emma a couple of the letters so she could look through them herself. "You don't have to pick now, or any of these schools for that matter, but the offer is always there." Mrs. James got up from the table to head off to work. Her father headed off earlier.

"Good luck on your game today. Love you." Mrs. James gave Emma a kiss on her head and headed off.

"Love you too." Emma responded as she stared at all the letters. She had letters from Nebraska state, University of Florida, and Minnesota state, etc. But not one from the one she wanted. She told herself it was fine she hadn't gotten a letter from them yet; cause she still had another year. She set them aside and got ready for school.

The bell for third period rang and Emma finished grabbing her books, closing her locker. When she turned around, she was met with Harley. Emma told herself she wouldn't go out with him, but something had changed; she thought it was nice that she wasn't thinking about Eric for once. Overall, Harley wasn't as bad as everyone made him out to be, and to be fair he was good looking.

"Morning Princess." Harley said as he gave her a quick peck on the forehead.

"Did you just get here?" Emma asked as she snuggled into him a bit closer.

He just shrugged. "Yeah," he responded, "I was just gonna skip today, but I remembered it was a big day for you." He smiled at her.

"Aww," Emma gushed sarcastically as she patted his chest, "that's so sweet of you to remember. You gonna come tonight?" Harley looked around them to see if anyone was listening. He didn't want to ruin his bad boy persona. He leaned down to reach Emma's ear.

"Yeah," was all he said. Emma smiled at him.

"Well, I'm off to class." Emma said. She quickly gave Harley a kiss and walked off, Harley watching her as she walked down the hallway.

What she didn't know was that Eric was watching the couple's interaction. Eric was talking to Jason and spotted the interaction, then blocked Jason out completely as he watched Emma and Harley being all gross. It had been a month. One excruciating month since Emma and Harley started dating. Eric and Jason were the first to officially know, since they were her best friends. The rest of the school just figured it out by noticing; Emma never officially said anything, but you get the idea. Eric would hate when Emma would come home from one of their dates and gush about it. He would get so jealous he would break whatever he was holding. It had only happened once, but it still happened.

However, nothing would make Eric more upset than when Emma would come home from one of their dates, crying. It only happened a few times in the beginning of Emma and Harley's relationship and the look of Emma crying broke Eric's heart. It also made him realize he really cared for her more than a friend. Eric was snapped back into reality by Jason snapping his fingers in his face.

"Hellooo?" Jason semi-yelled.

Eric shook his head to get his attention back, "What?"

"Are you even listening to me?" Jason asked him.
