Chapter 20- Honey you get the shrink!

Chetan had been thoroughly confused by whatever Vit was telling him. He was failing to understand why Vit had researched so much about his sister's prospective marriage. After she had backed out of marriage with Jai to take care of him, he had never discussed the subject with her openly. Rukma had overnight become far more mature than her years.

The interaction that had started with promise of business had taken a very personal turn. For Chetan, Vit was behaving weirdly and not making any sense to him.

He decided to ask direct question, 'And why would you really 'research' for prospective matches for her.'

'Because I can guess your plans that if you are passing off so much money you would definitely have other plans. And I know that as a brother you would  be concerned about her marriage.'

'So you are saying that I should be looking at these people to 'plan' for my sister's marriage.' Chetan was trying to understand the weird discussion they were having. Now he understood some of Rukma's remarks about Vit going mad.

'No, I am saying that the way she helped strategize your marriage, now you are doing the same for her.'

'What are you talking about? What has this got to do with my marriage?'

'See Chetan we Rajevas are very careful about who we associate with. We know that your sister transferred property and other assets to you three years back to ensure your marriage to Navya. We also know that your son was born eight months after the marriage, which means Navya was pregnant at the time of marriage.'

'And you are looking into all this because this is part of your marriage background check?' Chetan was not even in a mood to address the allegations. He was beyond furious. He was thinking why Vit who was engaged to be married to Navya's cousin Maira needed to check on his marital status, and extending  the same to Rukma's marital status was definitely insane.

'Yes, and I tell you we are very thorough in our investigation.' Vit answered with a smile thinking he had finally confirmed the scam these siblings were planning to run.

Chetan decided he was dealing with a madman and now understood Rukma's comments and her anger for Vit. He remembered her advice and decided it was the best course of action.

'Mr Vithoba, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Some of these are allegations and I do not wish to respond to them given the delicate relationship we have.' Chetan did not want to cause any problems for Navya's family at this point and moreover did not expect much interaction with Vit in future.

'Yes it is a delicate relationship.' Vit said with a smile, thinking that now Chetan was understanding his ask.

'Then I think we should not discuss any investments here and I need to go back and focus on our presentations.' Chetan wanted to close the discussion.

'But the problem is that we are legally bound in this issue.' Vit wanted to get the information.

'So I would propose that we through our lawyers to disentangle whatever the legal mess you are seeing. Also you guys can agree on media management. ' Chetan wanted to involve Dits as suggested by Rukma. He was sure either she will declare Vit as a gone case or at least to spare the nonsense.

'Ah, interesting, but there are many questions of personal kind. Would you be comfortable for the lawyer to respond to them?' Vit could see evasion in Chetan's behavior.

'In that case let me share the contact of Aditi Singh Rathore. She represents our legal firm and is a family friend. In fact she is Di's  (short for didi or elder sister, as Chetan fondly called Rukma) closest friend. So she would be better placed to validate this list.' He pointed to the list on the table.

'Ah, now we are getting somewhere.' Vit was now smiling.

'Yes and I need to run somewhere.' Chetan added with a fake smile and shared Aditi's details with Vit. He ran off from the office and stopped only when he was back to start-up stall area.

Chetan called up Dits to warn her about Vit. He wanted to warn her about the lunatic headed her way.

'Hey Dits, hope you are having better morning than me.'

'What happened Chetan, you don't sound happy.'

'There is a fellow by the name Vit, I don't remember his full name.'

'Is it Vithoba Rajeva of the famous Rajeva family. Is that Vit you are referring to?'

'Yes that is the one, how come you know him?

'Rukma talked to me about him. What happened to him?

'He has gone crazy and I have shared your number with him. He does not know but he needs therapy.'

By now Dits was laughing uncontrollably at the other end. She finally managed to say,' Your sister is of the same opinion.'

'Yeah she only suggested your name. I did not believe her yesterday, but today I also think he needs help.'

'But what has he got to do with you. I thought you were at a business conference.'

'Yes and that is where he cornered me. He started off about business investment but went off in the direction of marriage.'

'He discussed marriage with you?'

'Yeah the fellow is crazy enough to investigate di's marriage plans.'

'That is what he said to you? Why do you think that is crazy?'

'It is a long shot.He is marrying Navya's cousin and I might be investigated as a cousin-in-law but checking into di's plans is way too much!'

'Ohh, so that is what he told you?'

'Told me? He had made a list of prospective grooms! Even I had never gone that far with her!'

'Yes he has gone very far with Rook.' Dits was smiling at the other end.

'Damn the man. Can you imagine Dits him trying to wave that list at di. She will kill him! It will be so much fun!'

'Yes that would be loads of fun!'

Both Chetan and Dits were laughing for more than a minute.

'Dits I feel so much better talking to you. This fellow Vit was driving me crazy.'

'Ohh he would drive anyone crazy. But there is one thing I will tell you- there is more to his connection with Rukma. I will let her tell you about it.'

'Then I will talk to her about this 'encounter' in the evening.'

'Not sure you know it, but one hour back she has been asked to travel to Czech Republic for a conference.'

Chetan looked through his phone and saw Rukma's message informing him of the same.
