XIX. The perfect one for me

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with you Y/N, you're perfect
The problem is in me, I am not the right one for you...You deserve someone way better than me and I don't want you to stay for me and not be able to get what you deserve...you need to realise, we're better not together"

These were the last words he said before he threw the door open and left.

Little did he know that he was the one you've been dreaming about since you were 15, the perfect one of your dreams...and he didn't even bother to listen what you had to say...he just left.

After your breakup with Shawn, your bestfriend Liam was by your side and supported you through your breakdowns...

He is definately the best man of your life after your dad.

Liam has always been in love with you, but he never let you know...
One day you heard him talking with your bestie and saying how much he wanted to keep you close and never let you down now that you were going through the worst of your life...

You talked to him and decided to give him a chance...he was too precious to break his heart and after what happened with Shawn, even you needed to be distracted to forget him...

L: Hey Y/N, you're ready?

Y/N: Yeah I am, lets go

You guys get into the car and head to your your friend Camila's birthday party

The house was fully decorated and Camila was standing in the middle of the room with a beautiful blue dress talking to his boyfriend James.

Y/N: Oh hello there birthday girll!!

C: Y/N!! What a pleasuree come hereee!

You guys hug and so do Liam and James.

Y/N: Soooo how's it goingg?! New year, new life, I heard you and James are moving out?!

C: Yepp! At this point I think we're more than ready! What about you and Liam?

Y/N: Oh he's the sweetest boy ever, I'm so glad to have him in my life!

C: As you should! Ok chatting barely isn't fun enough, imma get some drinks wait!

Camila leaves to go to the bar, you have a look at the crowded room, everyone is dressed elegantly and seems to be very happy, but where's your happiness gone?

You've been living with the sweetest man ever who loves you unconditionally and has been loving you since day one...why doesn't he still make you feel like home? Why is this restlessness continously bothering you?!

Liam and James join you, Liam notices that you're worried and places a gentle kiss on your cheek

L: Are you ok Y/N?

Y/N: yeah yeah I'm good. Excuse me.

You go upstairs to the restroom. While passing by some bedroom doors you hear someone crying...

X: It's all my fault, all my fault! I never got to give her what she deserved, I've never been able to make her happy, she's way happier with him, but it's just too much for me...I can't see her with somebody else, I just can't, it hurts...

X: Shawn it doesn't make any sense now, not anymore... You were the one who left her remember? You said it was for her good and now, now that she's happy you can't feel bad about it...
It hurts, I understand...but you did it, and now there's nothing else to do than just accept it, she has moved on, and so will have to do you...

You recognise the voices, Shawn and his bestfriend Brian...

You place your back agains the door and slowly sit down...did you really move on? Whatever happened between you and Liam was just a way to run away from your pain, you actually never loved Liam like a boyfriend, cause you never stopped loving Shawn...

You stand up and slam the door open: Shawn is sitting on the floor and looking out of the window, Brian is standing behind him.

At the sound of the door Brain looks towards it and after seeing you he just silently leaves the room

S: Liam is a great man, he really is, and he loves Y/N so much, but I-

Shawn suddenly realises Brian is not there anymore, when he turns around he sees you and gets paralised.

You slowly get closer to him, he starts looking at the ground, he can't look in your eyes as he used to anymore...

Y/N: You said that you were doing it for me, that I deserved better and that you weren't the right one for me...
You did all the thinking and went to a conclusion yourself...but what about me? Did you ever give me the chance or asked me what I want?
Shawn I don't want anyone better, I just want you, you're not the right one, you're the perfect one for me! You broke my heart into pieces the day you left me but those pieces kept screaming "I love you Shawn"...
I would never find a better one cause nobody will ever love me like you do and I will never love anyone like you...

Shawn looks up, his eyes are filled with tears, but a sparkle of joy is still shining on his face...

All of a sudden he comes to you and hugs you very tightly, so tight that you start feeling stretched, but still at home, cause home is where your heart is, and yours was there, in Shawn...

S: I- I'm sorry...

Y/N: I don't need your sorry Shawn, just promise me you'll never do that again to me, ever! I want to live with you forever, I want to grow old with you and stay in your arms until my last breath, so if you dare to leave me again I swear nobody's gonna stop me for doing something crazy

S: I promise Y/N, I am never gonna leave you, I'm gonna spend every second of my life with you and I ain't leaving you until my last breath...oh crap I love you so much my chest hurts when you're not with me, how can I leave you? I'm gonna die...

You tighten the hug, your chest starts getting the rest you've been missing and your heart starts beating again.

L: Ahaa Finally!

You turn around to see Liam entering the room with his opened arms

L: You idiot if you dare to hurt my girl again you'll have to face me dude

S: Ain't going to any fight with YOU man, you can count on me

L: Good for you! Ok I took care of her while you weren't there, now my job is over and it's all up to you bro, take care of her. And you, Miss, you know who you have to call if this guy bothers you oke? Bye guys have a great night!

Liam leaves the room...you don't even say goodbye to him cause you don't know how to say it, you know that the smile he gave you was fake and that he is destroyed inside cause he really loves you...

You look at Shawn and smile, he smiles back and hugs you again...you close your eyes and feel this homely smell, forgetting whatever is going on around you.
