I enter the office space and place Kaito down on top of the big, mahogany desk. I sink into the chair right in front of him and rest my head on my hand and try to relax.
Kaito raises his hand to my cheek, but I immediately pull away before he can touch me.
He looks hurt at first but I quickly tell him, "Sweetie, my quirk. I'll be able to read your mind if you touch my skin."
"Oh ya, I forgot. Sorry (Y/n)-san, I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
Oh my god, this boy is an angel!
I smile softly and brush his unruly bangs out of his eyes, "Thank you Kaito-kun. And please call me (Y/n)."
He beams back at me and I swear I'm in love. I've only known this kid for a couple of hours, but there's nothing I wouldn't do for him. He's the sweetest, purest little boy I've ever met.
I kinda don't wanna hand him over to the Hero Public Safety Commission.
Kaito starts to toy with a lock of my hair when I realize that Bakugou is still here. His eyes are uncharacteristically soft, so I raise my eyebrow at him. He instantly looks away and a pink hue settles on his ears.
What the – is he ok?
Deciding he probably is, I turn back to Kaito, giving Bakugou the space he most definitely wants.
I admire the beautiful boy in front of me again as he braids a strand of my hair.
We sit in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes, until Bakugou waltzes over and plops down right next to us.
His mouth twitches and I have no idea what to make of that.
Kaito stops playing with my hair and asks Bakugou what his quirk is. I ignore the pain in my chest from no longer having Kaito's attention on me when Bakugou replies, "I can make the sweat on my hands explode. The more I sweat, the more intense the explosion."
Ew, gross.
That's kinda . . . interesting, y'know in a totally not-disgusting way.
I hold in my grimace as Kaito practically squeals, "Woah!! That's so cool!!"
I add, "Ya, I didn't know that's how your quirk worked, it's . . . . unique."
He narrows his eyes at me as if he knows exactly what I was thinking 2 seconds ago. I narrow my eyes back, egging him on.
I'm the mind reader here, not him.
Bakugou's about to tell me off again but Kaito, being completely oblivious to the tension surrounding us, cutely interrupts. "Can you show me?!"
Bakugou's hardened gaze vanishes as he tells Kaito, "No, that's not a good idea, the villains might hear."
Kaito's shoulders sag with disappointment until Bakugou offers a solution. "I'll show it to you as soon as we get out of here, ok?" and then proceeds to ruffle the little boy's hair.
Jesus, his personality just did a complete 180.
I guess Bakugou is only nice to kids.
Hm, go figure.
We spend the rest of our time talking about Kaito's favorite games and movies.
Every single thing he says makes my heart flutter.
And no matter how hard Bakugou'll try to deny it, I know it does the same to him.
