"Momma, you wanna see how many gummies I can stuff into my mouth?"

I pull the green gatorade away from my lips to automatically tell him no, but Kaito doesn't even wait for my reply. He just straight-up does it.

Bakugou's in the restroom right now, so Kaito and I are lounging on a bench under the shade, just waiting for him. But right now, I am particularly regretting buying Kaito so many gummy bears. In my defense, they were pretty cheap . . . what else was I supposed to do?

Kaito's on his 5th gummy bear when I realize I can't stop his shenanigans, so I jump in and help him count. We're on the 12th one when Bakugou comes back out. "The hell are you guys doing?"

Kaito and I both guiltily look at Bakugou and Kaito has the bright idea to try and talk with 12 gummy bears in his mouth. "We're thecking thu thee - "

I lay a hand on Kaito's shoulder to signal for him to stop talking. I really don't want him choking up a red and green gelatin mess. "We're checking to see how many gummy bears Kaito can fit in his mouth." I lift up the Haribo bag and hand it to Bakugou, "We're at 12 gummies so far."

Bakugou lets out a little humph, "Bet I can do more."

Kaito's eyes light up at the challenge and he resumes stuffing his face.

But a few seconds later, Kaito's roughly coughing and spitting out 15 gummy bears. Bakugou starts cackling like a madman while I desperately try to help Kaito, no doubt making everyone around us stop and do a double-take.

I gently rub Kaito's back as he hacks up a storm. He scarfs down some water and catches his breath all while his father does nothing but laugh at his poor son. Bakugou only quiets down when Kaito croaks out, "Why did I think that was a good idea?"

Aww, my poor baby.

I give him a little side hug and wipe his drool away with a wet towel. Bakugou then goes back to the restroom and comes out with a bunch of paper towels. He leans down and scoops up all the gross, half-chewed gummy bears from the pavement and throws it away. Bakugou then wipes a fake tear from the corner of his eye, "Ha ha, oh man, I think I might've popped a vein from laughing so hard."

He ruffles Kaito's hair and sits on his left side, effectively sandwiching Kaito between us.

Kaito lets out a puff of air to argue, "I still got 15 though, that's gotta be like a world record or somethin' right!"

Bakugou lets out another laugh and looks at me over Kaito's head. He winks at me and I, blow him a kiss back. Then Bakugou replies to Kaito, "Who knows? It might be."

I kiss Kaito on his head and stand up to stretch out, "Welp, if you're both done obsessing about gummies, let's go see some penguins!"

Kaito jolts up and grabs my gloved hand, "Okie dokie, mommy."

My heart swells every time he calls me 'momma', but hearing him say 'mommy' - cuteness overload!

Bakugou stands up too and walks beside Kaito, "Ya, penguins don't sound too bad."

Kaito then grabs Bakugou's hand as well, and begins swinging our hands back and forth in exaggerated motions.

Bakugou and I lock eyes and I immediately know we're both thinking the same thing. So, we both grip Kaito's hands a bit tighter and when he brings our hands up, we lift and swing Kaito between us. He giggles adorably, so Bakugou and I do it again. And again. And again.
