Sarah Paulson one-shots: You & Her

I will wait

I went to visit Lana... the only time I would be allowed to see her while she is in the asylum. I wanted her home with me so desperately. But there was nothing that I could do to help her. 

As I walked up to the steps of the asylum, one of the patients came up to me, smiling. She held out a flower for me to take and I accepted it gratefully. "Play with me" she giggled. I just smiled as the sister guided me into the asylum. 

I was brought into a room where Lana was sitting, cuffed to a chair. My heart broke seeing her this way. "Y/N" she whispered. I hugged her as soon as we were left alone. "Oh, Lana. What are they doing to you" I asked, trying not to cry. 

"It's torture Y/N. I wish I never came here but I have to keep going. My work has only just begun" she sighed. "Lana please, I need you home with me" I pleaded but she just shook her head. "There's nothing I can do Y/N/N. I wish there was" she frowned. "As soon as I have all the evidence I need to expose this... hell hole... I will come back to you"

"Do you promise?" I whispered. She nodded and smiled through her tears, "I promise sweetheart. I'll be home sooner than you think" 

I smiled at the love of my life gratefully. I hope she's right. This place isn't morally honest. From the outside, it looks like a perfect place for your loved ones to be but from the inside, it's a dark prison except... it's worse than prison. I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy. 

"Promise me you'll wait for me" she whispered as a tear rolled down her flushed cheeks. "I will wait, I will wait for you" I smiled as I leaned in for another hug. It was time to go...

I will wait, I will wait for you, Lana. I said to myself as I left her to face these monsters alone.
