Lana's POV

I sat by the window of the community room. I look out into the grounds of the asylum, dreaming of getting out of this horror house. Another summer day has come and gone away.

"I wanna go home" I sighed, thinking about the perfect girl I left behind. I shouldn't have put work first but... that's just who I am. "May be surrounded by a million people, I still feel all alone" I looked around the room at all of the other people in the asylum. I'd made friends but nobody compared.

"I miss you" A tear rolled down my cheek. "I've been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you. Each one a line or two" I said to myself, as if she could hear me. "I should send them but I know that it's just not enough. My words are cold and flat and you deserve more than that" I contradicted myself.

She hasn't come to visit me? Maybe she doesn't want to see me this way? Maybe I've made her angry so she forgot about me? All these terrible thoughts flooded my head.

"Let me go home" I began to cry. "I'm just too far from where you are... I want to come home"

"Lana, are you alright? You've been sitting here crying for hours" Kit asked me. I looked up at him with teary eyes. "Lana?" he repeated my name, trying to get me to talk. Seconds passed before I finally spoke...

"I feel just like I'm living someone else's life" I admitted. "We all do... we can get out of here" he told me. "How? The nuns are practically watching us from every corner of this place" I explained. "Grace and I have found a way" he smirked.

Kit dragged me away from the community room and we met up with Grace who was waiting for us. "Ugh, took you long enough" She rolled her eyes. "Sorry, Lana was upset" he told her. "She always is" she slyly commented. "I'm standing right here, Grace" I spat. "I know" she smiled. "You know what Kit, you two just go" I told him. "No, Lana. You're coming with us. You shouldn't be here because you aren't even ill!" he began to raise his voice. "Kit! Be quiet. I know I'm not ill but I came here for a purpose and I haven't fulfilled it yet" I explained.

"It doesn't matter surely? You must've gathered enough evidence by now... it's been weeks" he asked me. "Maybe?" I shrugged. He didn't say anything else, just dragged me by the arm and soon we were outside. The fresh air hit me square in the face and it felt beautiful. "This feels so good!" Grace laughed, holding her arms out to catch the rain. "Doesn't it" Kit replied, copying her actions. I watched the pair as they played around in the rain.

After a couple of minutes I spoke, "Guys we should really get going, they might have realised that we are gone"

They stopped and stared at me, "she's right" Kit said, Grace nodded and turned to run. Kit and I followed, running as fast as we could.

"I'm coming back home Y/N" I whispered as we made our way far from Briarcliffe.
