I kinda feel...relaxed for once. I'm not sure how but...everything is calm...maybe a little too calm-

Ericka was starting to become suspicious of the overly serene environment.

The storm is over so- oh no...

It suddenly occurred to her that Abraham would probably be coming back soon which made her become uneasy and anxious.

Venus didn't seem to share her concerns as she pulled back from Ericka, hiccuping.

"I told you not to eat so fast." Ericka scolded benevolently, propping her chin gently with a finger. All Venus did in response was hiccup once more and yawn, her eyelids drooping.

Tired already? But she didn't even do anything...then again she is just a newborn-

Ericka let her rest her head on her chest and she dozed off to sleep, Ericka rubbing her back as well.

Is it just me, or did it get colder?

She swore she could see her breath billowing in the air in front of her face. She didn't want to be frozen solid, but she also didn't want to wake Venus up accidentally.

Sorry...

She pulled her bra back up, and started to slip the top part of her jumpsuit on, doing her very best to not wake Venus. She eventually was successful in her feat, only making Venus fuss a few times, but didn't make her wake up.

Ahh...That's much better...

She snuggled back up with Venus and cuddled with her, allowing her eyes to rest.

Footsteps.

Ericka's eyes flew open and she looked over at the door, hearing it being unlocked.

Oh no-

Abraham blew the door open with a small entourage of Stanley's following behind.

"Good morning!"

Fuck you.

She didn't reply verbally, only wrapping her arms around Venus more.

"Oh come on, you're not going to say it back?"

He got a little closer to her, but she wasn't having it.

"DON'T COME ANY CLOSER."

She gripped Venus so tightly she might have accidentally ripped the blanket if she held it any harder. Venus whimpered due to her being squeezed so firmly by her mother.

"Ah-uh-don't cry-please-this is for your PROTECTION-"

She looked up and two Stanleys were advancing quickly, her heart pounding with a burst of adrenaline. She put up her best fight, agonizingly thrashing out her legs to try and keep them away. Her efforts were in vain as she was extremely weak and feeble, being starved and sleep deprived she didn't stand much of a chance. She managed to keep one of the Stanleys from coming close enough to snatch Venus, but the other took the chance and reached for her.

Ericka saw his fin looming closer, and she snapped. Literally.

She bit down and crushed his fin in her mouth, making him shriek. She dragged her teeth and ripped up one of his scales, stabbing the roof of her mouth, causing her to release his fin. He stumbled back and rushed for the door, his fin withering and throbbing.

Ericka touched the scale with her tongue and it dislodged itself, allowing her to spit it out spitefully as blood started to coat the interior of her mouth.

The remaining Stanley took the opportunity of weakness and snagged Venus by grabbing the blanket she was wrapped in.

"NOO!!"

Ericka screeched and wailed continuously like a broken siren, trying to keep a grip on Venus. The Stanley kept trying to yank Venus from her, but she held on.

"Let GO!!"

"NEVER!!" She was sobbing rivers while screaming, the blood in her mouth frothing and spilling out onto her chin due to her excessive breathing and shrieking. He got fed up with her antics and smashed his foot into her stomach, making her finally let go and fold forward, still blubbering in anguish and grief. Venus had woken up during their squabble, and as she was yanked away from Ericka, she started crying and squalling loudly. Ericka lifted her head instinctively, but ended up sobbing harder, hearing her baby cry, yet she was unable to do anything about it.

"V-VENUS!!!" She managed to howl through her sorrowful screams, blood splattering out of her mouth onto the floor. She reached a shaking hand out in Venus's direction, only to drop it limply to the floor.

The Stanley walked out of the room, Venus still continuing the dreadful caterwauling as he carried her down the hallway. Abraham got a glimpse of Venus before she was whisked out of sight.

I suppose I could have gotten luckier with the genes...meh, minor adjustments can be made.

He glanced back into Ericka's room and saw her with her fists against the floor. Her screaming had turned into pure sobbing, her chest heaving with her sparse quivering breaths.

"Look...I am very sorry about all of this..." He said apathetically.

She was still withering and shaking on the floor, but she painstakingly lifted her glare off of the floor and stared him in the eyes. Hatred burning her whole body.
