Addie's P.O.V.

I wiped my eyes as I sat on the floor with a whole bunch of my mom's possessions around me. I thought she left without anything but then I found this box. If only Jess wouldn't have found it and opened it herself, I wouldn't be crying. But instead, I'm crying my eyes out because of all these things she left for me.

"For all I know, she's dead," I sobbed, picking up a photo of her and I with my dad when I was little out of the box. There was so much in here. So much of her.

I looked over to the door when I heard it open and found Harry coming into my apartment. He saw me and widened his eyes, walking over to me. He stopped when he saw all the stuff in front of me. "Addie." He bent down to me and placed a kiss on my forehead. "Baby, it is gonna be okay." I started to cry more as he sat down next to me and pulled me into him.

"Harry," I cried. I don't know why this hurt so much but it felt like my world was crashing down on me. She left and didn't say anything to me except leaving me with this box. I fisted Harry's shirt in my hand as I cried into his chest.

"Addie, she's probably not dead. She's still alive. She might even want to see you," Jess tried to comfort me. "Let's finish looking through the box and see if she left any clues." I just nodded my head and let go of Harry as I watched Jess sit down in front of me. Harry still had his arm wrapped around my waist.

I grabbed some more stuff out of the box finding pictures of us. I was about to put them down until one caught my eye. It was a picture of my dad and I. We were at the beach and I was on his shoulders. He was spinning me around and my mom got the picture at the right moment when we were laughing together.
I flipped it over to find a note

Addie-

I thought you would like this picture of you and your father so I put it in here for you to have. It is also one of my favorites.

Love always,

Mom

I smiled as I traced my finger over her handwriting. I smiled as I read the last three words. "Love always, mom" I missed when she would come into my room and kiss me on the forehead and say "I love you" before I went to sleep.

I put down the picture and kept looking. I finally got to the bottom after countless pictures and found a tiny box with an envelope. I took out the box and opened it to find a gold locket. I remember this was the one she always wore. I never saw the picture inside of it. I opened it to find a rare picture of my mom, my dad, and I when I was about four. But what questioned me about the picture is there was a boy in the picture about one years old, if that, and my dad was holding him. I've never seen this picture before and this boy wasn't in any other photo besides this one. And my mom has never showed me even though I asked to see it. Now I know why. There was something she wasn't telling me.

"Jess..." I got out of Harry's grip and scooted over to Jess. "Look at this." She grabbed the locket and stared at it.

"Who is that?"

"I don't know. He's only been in one picture."

She kept staring at it. "He kind of looks like you."

"What?" I looked at it again. The baby boys' face was the same as mine. "He does. Do you think he's my brother?"

"I don't know. If he was, why hasn't anybody told you about him or why haven't you seen him?"

"This is so confusing," I shook my head. I looked back in the box and picked up the letter, deciding whether to open it or not.

I set it to the side and put everything else back in the box. "I'm done for today," I sighed.
