Chapter 2

The hunter takes me to a different room where my worst nightmare is realized. There are two chairs in the room. The one is empty and the other they toss him into it. But instead of taking me to the chair, I'm brought behind a power box. They begin attaching chains to Scott's hands that are connected to the very same box.

"Could you loosen your grip a bit?" I ask the man holding my arm with an iron-clad grip. "I may be a werewolf, but I'm still human."

His fingers begin digging into my arms, "Better?"

I wince, "Much. Thank you." I turn my gaze back to Scott who sits on the backward chair with his head down. The door suddenly swings open as Lydia is dragged inside. She gasps before she is brought to the empty chair.

"Let her go," Scott speaks up. "Look, you've got me. Just let the others go." The hunter begins strapping a set of chains to her ankles. I'm dragged forward by the man holding my arm. He lifts my hand up and places it on a dial.

"Your hand goes here." I look down at the dial and back at Scott and Lydia.

No... they wouldn't...

"So let me explain what's about to happen." He continues. "This one-" He points in my direction, "-is going to turn the dial on the Alpha."

"What? No." I try to move but his grip tightens.

"If she doesn't, I turn the dial on the Banshee."

"You guys are savages." I hiss as I try to move out of his grip.

"Sweetheart, we're the Calaveras," Araya speaks up from in between Scott and Lydia.

"I don't care what you are. I'm not going to do this."

"Are you sure? One of your friends has the power to heal. The other? Not so much."

"Why me? Why do I have to do this? Why not another one of you Calaveras?" I ask. I know Scott will be able to take it -to a degree. But if I'm the one who has to do it. That's just messed up.

A smirk forms on Araya's face, "Cause you're the Alpha's girl." My body stiffens. "We're not as out of it as you might think. We have connections in Beacon Hills. We know all about your little romance. Scott McCall and Derek's little sister."

"I think you better get a new connection. Cause I'm not the Alpha's girl anymore." My eyes glance over to Scott as he downcasts his eyes. "So you might as well just let me go. It's not going to prove anything."

"Oh," Araya turns around and picks something off the table. "So you won't mind if I do this." She places a knife against Scott's arm and drags it slowly along leaving a long red line in its wake. Scott gasps as the blood starts trickling down his arm. I smack my lips closed as I watch him scrunch up his face. Araya looks at me before quirking an eyebrow. She hastily places the blade against his finger. "Maybe now?" She starts putting more pressure against the blade as she stares right into my eyes. I bite my lips as Scott begins scrunching his face up.

"Stop!" I yell out. "Fine, you made your point." She removes the blade and wipes it on her shirt.

"Is this just a game to you?" Scott breathes out.

"This is a test, Lobito." She calmly places the knife back down on the table. "The Ōkami here already passed."

"What test?" I question.

"To see whether you are still influenced by the Nogitsune. If you have reached the full potential of an Ōkami yet."

"What if I did?"
