AN- This story was written from a prompt provided to me by someone else. I don't know their Wattpad name anymore. But yah, Keralis and Cub. I still don't know how I feel about this ship.
AN2- Doc will be out of character. Just warning!
TW- death, blood, and minor beating
Keralis POV-
What am I doing? What happened? I had recently stepped into the Hermitcraft portal but this isn't the friendly server I remember. I have no idea where I am. Glancing down at my calloused hands, covered in concrete and dirt, tears mingle with the sweat on my face. I was exhausted from building, too tired to think anymore.
How long had I been here? My eyes, now dry from lack of energy to even cry, close and I curl up tighter in the corner I was in, drifting into peaceful dream lands where I could dream of bubbles and Bubbles.
-Time skip-
A sharp pain shoots through my ribs, and I wake up gasping, the sleep and dreams disappearing instantly. Still curled in my corner, my eyes land on the scuffed and muddy boots of Captain Angry Eyes. Groaning I tried to sit up, but the pain in my ribs stops me and I clutched onto my side, desperate for the pain to subside.
"Good, you're awake. We just came in to see the progress on your build." The captain bent down and watched me squirm and gasp in pain, "I'd suggest not moving and taking shallow breaths." He muttered, "I may have kicked a little harder than necessary."
A gruff voice came out from the shadows, "He can take it Scar." And as the voice stepped forward, towards the captain, I had to bite my tongue so I didn't gasp and cause myself more pain. Just behind the captain was the cyborg creeper form of, "Docm77," I gasped between my shallow breaths, "I should have known... Murderer... At least I know..." my voice failed as I gasped at the little air in my lungs but I can't help but smirk at the look in the captain's eyes as I mentioned murder.
"Know what?" Doc spat, fire in eyes as he leaned down towards my vulnerable position. As he got closer, I was sure he was going to kill me right where I was when he suddenly spun, slapping off the hand of Captain Angry Eyes where it had rested on Doc's shoulders. What had Doc called him again? Scar.
"Don't Scar," Doc growled, causing Scar to lower his hand and head submissively, "This traitor ran away before you even showed up. You don't know what he can do. I want to know why he killed Bdubs."
"Why would you think I killed my best friend?" I snarl at him.
"Doc, he's in no condition to be interrogated right now... Give him time," Scar muttered, trying to soothe the raging hermit, looking confused. As I curled tighter, whimpering in pain, black tinging my peripheral vision, I watched Scar gently lead the fuming Doc out of my cell. As the door slammed shut I am left alone, in the cold darkness of my room, to my thoughts. Bubbles... Bdubs... my best friend. Suddenly I'm there. The darkness of the forest that he lived in. Skipping through it, enjoying the air, when I hear the shriek that I would never forget. I knew what I would find if I moved there.
As much as I begged my body to not go, I ran towards the sound, sliding to a stop at the edges of the meadow that had been cleared in the middle of the forest. Blood pooled on the ground as Doc pulled an arrow from Bdubs' chest. I scream and ran to clutch my best friend. Blood seeping into my clothes and my tears glistening on his slowly relaxing face. "WHY!" I scream at Doc. He stares at me numbly, mumbling something I can't hear. I bury my face into Bubbles shoulders.
I'm still screaming, but when I open my eyes a concerned looking man was shaking me. I inhale sharply, gasping for air as my lungs scream for air but in my side, hot knifes shred my muscle. Tears stream down my face. The man sat down and cradled my head until I relax. He doesn't say anything as he gently strokes my hair. His other hand, rested on my hand that is clutching my aching side. His touch is just soothing and I soon forget my anguish.
"Well, that was an interesting meeting," the man's voice is quiet but commanding and I find myself immediately trusting him. I glance upwards as he stares intently, yet softly at me with his nearly perfect brown eyes; specks of gold flash due to the light from the hall out the door.
"Welcome to Hermitcraft, I guess. Let's get you out of here," and he carefully stands, with me still in his arms. He sets me down as I grimace and claw at the pain in my ribs and he puts my arm around his neck, his right hand wrapped tightly around my waist. He rests his right hand on my hand, stopping my desperate clawing. The pain seems to subside as his hands slides just below mine.
"Why are you here?" I mutter as we walk as quickly I could handle through the halls of this prison.
"Doc and Scar are away, busy with some hippie shenanigans, so I figured I'd use the chance to explore Area 77." The man explained, "I'm usually so busy with ConCorp, married to work many say, and I figured that maybe Scar would have some high-tech item that I could steal and use in my conquest. I never expected to find such a handsome prisoner" I stumble as the pace was becoming too much to bare. He stopped and picked me up as my face flushed. His right hand slid up to near my shoulders, and his left under my legs, "I hope this is okay," he said, "we don't have much time."
I cling to his neck as he trots down the halls and out into the sunlight. My eyes burn from the heat and exposure and I tuck my head tightly into his neck. I feel him chuckle and continue running until I feel shade on my neck. The man gently sets me down by a tree and sits beside me, breathing heavily. I glance around and notice Scar and Doc in an obvious argument with two hippies at the bottom of the hill we were on. One with sunglasses and the other in a red sweater. The one in red doubles over laughing as Scar sneezes and Scar throws his hands up in despair.
"I don't know your name yet," the man beside me says, distracting me from the argument below, "Mine's Cubfan. But you can call me Cub."
I glance over and into his eyes which are intense. I don't quite know how to feel about that but I reply either way, "Keralis. Just Keralis. Thank you for saving me. If there is anything I can..." I trail off as I notice his eyes drift away from mine. Oh my gosh. He just glanced at my lips. Butterflies burst in my stomach and I can barely feel my pain, or any part of my body as I lean in. He follows suit and our lips brush against each other. He quickly pulls away blushing profusely, apologizing. I raise my hand to his face to turn him back.
"I have never had a relationship. I-I... These feelings... I only j-just met you."
I can't help but smile as his blush deepens eachtime he stutters, "that's okay. We can take it slow," I murmur as I slid closerto Cub. It felt so safe. It felt so right. I drift off to sleep with his armswrapped around me, not noticing the alarms coming from Area 77.
