"God, I'm so fucking bored" I whine.
It's been a week since I started my maternity leave, over two months early. Thankfully Pat, my boss, the everloving Saint that she is approved of my leave. It's been a week and I'm about to lose my mind with boredom though Clarissa has been visiting me everyday, I'm still bored.
"Shall we go and get some stuff for our little prinny?" Clarissa asks excitedly rubbing my stomach. "We could make a day of it, go for a manicure—the whole shebang"
I sigh. "I could do with getting out the house for a bit" I say with a smile. "This cabin fever isn't doing me any good"
Clarissa claps excitedly. "Yay"
Within twenty minutes, I'm clean, out of my PJ's and in my maternity clothes. I'm wearing my fave T-shirt at the minute, which is the words Ice Ice and an arrow pointing down at my bump (Ice, Ice Baby) and my maternity jeans. I come down the stairs and Clarissa starts chuckling like it's the first time she's seen me wear this. "That still fucking cracks me up" she chuckles.
I grin looking down at my T-shirt, when I first found it online I thought it was funny as that's why I had to buy it, as a matter of fact order one in every colour they had, which I'm still waiting on coming. "Me too" I laugh before we leave the house locking up behind us.
Getting in Clarissa's car we make our way to the makeover lounge which is owned by one of Clarissa's friends. I send a text to Luke to tell him where I'm going and then put my phone back in my bag.
I smile at Clarissa but that drops when I see her looking at the rear view mirror with a mixture of worry or fear. "What's wrong?" I ask her.
She looks to me and smiles but it doesn't reach her eyes. "It's probably just me but that cars been following us since we left your house" she says. "Matter of fact I'm pretty sure it was parked across the road from yours earlier, I remember that stripe on the front of it"
I look behind us and there is a black car with tinted windows and red stripes down the bonnet of the car. "Can you make out the driver?" Clarissa asks me as I feel the car speed up.
I squint my eyes trying to focus, the driver is wearing a hoodie sunglasses and a mask of some sort so I can't make out whether they're male or female. "No," I tell her. "They're wearing a hoodie, sunglasses and a mask so can really make out their face"
"The fuck?" Clarissa hisses.
"Just try and get us to the salon as fast as you can babe, and I'll call Luke when we get there" I tell her trying to keep my shit together.
"Take a pic of it or something" Clarissa suggests with a tremble to her voice.
I reach into my bag pulling my phone out and pull up the camera app before taking a pic of the car hoping I can get the license plate in it aswell. I take the best pic I can giving the fact that my hands are shaking and see that the car that had been following us had slowed down and turned off, as we pull up to the salon.
"Did you get a pic of the car?" Clarissa asks me.
"Yeah" I say getting it up. "It's a little blurry though"
I tell her as I hand her my phone, she takes it from me and studies the picture. "I'm sure if you sent it to Luke he'll be able to get people to look at it" she says as she hands me my phone back. "Call him" she says as she gets her own phone out, no doubt to call my brother.
I press call on Luke's number, it rings twice before he answers. "Hey, baby, are you and lissa at the salon?" He asks.
"Er, yeah" I smiling briefly at his nickname for Clarissa before I reply trying to keep the tremble out of my voice. "I'm just outside" my voice cracks, my emotions getting the best of me.
