"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Luke asks me for what seems to be about the twentieth time this morning.
It's been a couple of days since Suzanne kidnapped me and tried to murder me and my baby. Over the course of those days Luke hasn't left my side, like he legit hasn't left my side even to the toilet I have him outside the door asking if I'm okay. As much as the whole ordeal scared the absolute shite out of me, I feel like I can't move, can't breathe. Between Luke and my dad they've took it upon themselves to keep me company as they say but really they think I'm gonna lose it or some shit.
"Babe, like I told you the last twenty times you asked, I'll be fine" I tell him rolling my eyes.
"I haven't asked you twenty times" Luke frowns as he looks at me with a look of concern.
"Luke," I whine. "Just go to work will you and give me some peace."
A look of hurt flashes across his face before he kisses me on the lips. Fuck. "Babe, I'm sorry," I sigh. "I'm a bitch."
"No you're not," Luke smiles kissing me on the tip of my nose. "I know I'm being overbearing but seeing Suzanne holding that knife over you—over our daughter, it did something to me and I have no doubt you feel the same."
"You're right, it did" I tell him. "But I'm not gonna let her have power over me by being scared, she's locked away now getting the help that she needs she can't scare me anymore."
"I still think she should of went to prison," Luke growls. "A secure psychiatric facility is too good for her after what she did."
I sigh heavily knowing how he feels about the outcome of Suzanne's sentence, my dad was the same when the judge read out the verdict, safe to say he was beyond pissed to the point of the judge threatening him to a night behind bars. Luckily Saint was present at the hearing too and managed to calm them both down before anything else could happen.
"I know babe." I say softly.
"I could of lost you," he murmurs. "I could of lost both of you." he adds as he places his hands on my protruding stomach.
I cup his face. "But you didn't. I'm fine—we're fine," I tell him. "You saved us."
Luke's eyes close nuzzling my hand before he opens them once more and sighs. Knowing what he's about to do I press my fingers to his lips. "I'll be fine." I tell him.
He nips the skin of my finger tips gently before I removed them from his lips. "I love you," he says softly and then bends to kiss our daughter. "You promise that you'll call me if you need me?" He asks me.
"I promise." I tell him.
He sighs studying my eyes and kisses me once more. "Okay." he says picking up his car keys.
"Have a good day, babe." I smile encouragingly.
"You too," he grins kissing my lips once twice before he makes his way to the front door. "I love you."
"I love you too" I tell him before I hear the door close.
I sigh heavily and sit down on the couch. The silence now deafening, when my little girl decides to choose that time to make her presence known. "You're just like your daddy you are, lil miss" I laugh. "I'm fine" I coo rubbing my tummy.
My smile dims as I look around the living room, it's the same as it's always been but now it's been tainted knowing that it's the same room that Suzanne had been in. She's tainted my house, even though I know she wasn't mentally well she came here with the intention to do harm not just to me but to my baby too.
