"Vinnie's here," Colin says to me after I answer his call I'm currently walking to saints car after a long shift when Colin rings me from Club Circo.
"What?" I ask. "You're shitting me" I scoff.
"Nah, kid" Colin chuckles humourlessly. "He's not alone either"
"Has he seen you?" I ask as I put the call on speaker letting Saint hear.
"Nah," he tells me. "I spotted him on the security cameras"
"Who is he with?" I ask. "Do you know who it is?"
"I can't make out his face," he tells me. "Oh, fuck" he hisses.
"What?" I ask on full alert looking to Saint.
"One of Smitty's nephews has just turned up," Colin tells me. "And he's not alone" he groans.
"Fuck" I mutter. "How do you know it's Smitty's nephew? Who is it?"
"It's Gerrard, and Cos I make it my business to know people, that's why," Colin tells me cryptically. "Hang on, Vinnie's sat in the VIP area, lemme just load the camera feed in that area, I should be able to hear what they're saying"
"What the fuck?" I choke. "How did you get your hands on software like that?"
"As I said, I make it my business to know people," he tells me. "Now shush.."
Suddenly I hear muffled music and voices which I can now make out as Vinnie. "What Dya want from me, I took care of the kid and the reluctant business owners. I control the north side now" Vinnie says smugly. "When is this Mr Roth gonna meet with us?"
"What do you want, a medal?" the unknown voice replies. "I heard you have the pigs on your tail"
I honestly don't know why people call us that, we're police officers for fucksake...
"Come on, Kai" Vinnie laughs. "They're nothing"
"This better not fuck with our plans, vin" Kai growls. "Have you even told Smitty what Mr Roth is offering?"
"Not yet" Vinnie replies.
"Vin" Kai chuckles.
"Kai" Vinnie warns him. "You deal with Mr Chen and the south side and I'll deal with my side, okay?"
"Okay, Okay" I hear Kai chuckle. "Though Mr Chen is already on board with everything—he even got rid of his weakest link already"
"I can't believe he offed his own kid" Vinnie chuckles. "Cold mother fucker"
What the fuck?! I mouth to Saint who is looking equally as shocked by what we're hearing.
"He didn't do a thing, I did" Kai replies. "You can't have any weak links in business—Mr Chen knows that I know that"
"So do I" Vinnie exclaims. "I took care of Smitty's kid, didn't I?"
"Fuck" Colin hisses. "He did it, he fucking did it"
"And now we have the proof," Saint says sadly. "This is gonna push Smitty off the edge"
"He needs to know what he's working with, Saint," Colin says through the speakerphone.
"I know, you're right" Saint sighs heavily.
"I've got this recorded so I'll email it over to you now and I'll touch base with you later, okay?" Colin tells us.
"Sound" Saint replies making me and Colin chuckle whilst Saint rolls his eyes.
