We arrive at Helen's parent's house, I still can't believe Helen is Colin's daughter, fuck me running, he's gonna string me up by bollocks. "You'll be okay," Helen says softly.
I hear my dad scoff from the back seat. "It's cute that you think that, sweetheart—but we've seen a whole different side to your dad, that would say otherwise" he chuckles.
"Nice one, da," I say sarcastically.
"Just telling it like it is, son" dad shrugs.
"Let's get this done" I grumble as dad opens his door whilst I go around to my girl's door.
"On the plus side, Clayton's not here," Helen says softly as I open the door. "His car ain't here"
We walk up the path and Helen rings the doorbell, I wonder why she rings the doorbell to her own parent's house, I don't have the chance to ask her because the door opens and Colin stands in the doorway frowning in confusion. "Baby girl, why didn't you just come—" he says before he realises we're stood with her. "Lou? Luke? What are you doing here?" he asks us. "Helen, are you in trouble?" He asks her worriedly.
"No, daddy—nothing like that" Helen tells him as she reaches for my hand, I take it without hesitation, Colin sees the movement and glances down at our entwined hands. "Oh, fuck no, not my little girl—get to fuck" he growls pulling Helen from me.
"What's going on?" A soft voice asks from behind Colin.
"Mum, tell dad, he's being unreasonable" Helen growls.
"Am I fuck, being unreasonable—do you know who this fucker is, baby girl?" Colin growls pointing at me. "Cos I fucking do—this fucker has dipped his wick in nearly every woman in Liverpool, he's a fucking walkin' talkin' STD" he bellows.
"Hey, now, Colin—that's gone far enough" dad growls defending me.
"Can you please bring this inside, Colin, before we get an audience" Helen's mum growls.
"He ain't coming in my house" Colin grumbles stubbornly.
"I beg your pardon" Helen's mum hisses. "Let them in the fucking house, or I swear Colin, you'll be sleeping on the couch for a month—and you know what that means, don't you?"
No comfy bed, to sleep in...
A pissed off, missus...
And no sex for a month..."Fine" Colin growls stepping back to let us in, revealing the woman that was behind Colin—Helen's mum.
"You must be Helen's sister" I coo taking her hand and kiss it softly. "The resemblance is uncanny"
Helen's mum grins looking at my dad. "Hey, Lou—I take it this is your boy?" She asks my dad.
"Yeah," dad sighs. "Unfortunately" he jokes. "How you doin, Joy?" he asks her.
Joy...
"Oh, I'm doing just fine" she grins. "So what's all this about?" She asks me and Helen.
"Well, first off Mrs Witlaw—can I call you, joy?" I ask her.
She nods in response. "Joy," I say softly. "My name is Luke Rathe—I'm a police officer with the Merseyside police department, and I'm dating your daughter," I tell her.
Joy scrutinises me from head to toe, before looking to Helen. "Are you happy, baby?" she asks her.
Helen nods looking at me with a beautiful bright smile. "I am," she tells her.
"Well, I'm not fucking happy—what the fuck, Luke?" Colin growls.
"Daddy, stop it" Helen hisses. "We're dating, we're getting to know one another," she tells him.
