I wake with a start, my eyes blurred as I try to focus. "What the hell?" I croak as I look down to see an IV in my hand.

"You gave us quite the fright," the voice to my left says making me jump.

There sat in the chair in the corner is Luke, his gaze is fierce as he studies me. "How are you feeling?" He asks me.

"Why are you here?" I ask him, ignoring his question.

"Why wouldn't I be here?" he asks me calmly. "You're the mother of my child, after all,"

What?! How—fucking hell, Maria...

"This baby is of no concern of yours" I growl. "You aren't the father," I tell him, though it makes me sick to lie to him.

"That's cute, beauty" he smirks leaning forward. "But Maria already told me the truth" he growls.

"I lied to her, too" I lie.

"Oh, beauty" he tsks. "Why do you have such a bad habit of lying, Hmm? You're a bad liar, by the way" he tells me.

"I'm not" I protest weakly.

"Oh, but you are" he growls. "How long have you known, hmmm?"

"I told you" I whisper.

"And I told you that I don't fucking believe you" he growls. "Now tell me" he hisses. "How. Long. Have. You. Known?" he asks me.

I can feel the anger rolling off his body towards me, but I couldn't tell him, I was scared he wouldn't want the baby. I know that was unfair of me to assume such a thing, but I don't know Luke—I mean, it was one night. One night of amazingly hot sex which had me coming so many times that I lost count, that my clit throbbed and tingled for a week straight, not to mention the not being able to walk properly.

"Beauty," Luke asks softly taking my hand in his. "Were you ever gonna tell me?"

I don't have an answer for him, because if I'm honest with myself—I don't know. "I don't know," I tell him honestly.

His hand goes limp in mine as he lets me go. "I see" he replies sadly.

He stands up and walks out of my room, without looking back or uttering a word, my lip trembles knowing that I've hurt him, but I was just trying to be honest with him. Suddenly, Maria comes running in. "You're awake?" She smiles but that dims when she sees my face. "Honey, don't cry—it'll be okay, you'll see," she tells me.

"Maria, you didn't see his face," I tell her repeating what was said between us. "I hurt him," I say sadly.

"He'll be back," she tells me. "You'll see"

I sigh heavily, leaning back in the bed looking at her. "So, come on, what happened?" I ask her.

"You know you should be waiting on the doctor to come and see you" she scolds me.

I huff. "Yeah, right—like you would wait, knowing your friend knew what was happening" I growl.

"Fine" she growls. "They checked your blood, your blood pressure and did an ultrasound," she tells me. "The reason why you're so weak and tired is that you have a severe case of anaemia," she tells me. "You've also been diagnosed with having hyperemesis gravidarum, which explains the weight loss and stuff," she tells me.

"How's the baby?" I ask her.

"Well, you're exactly twelve weeks today" she grins. "And the baby is, just fine,"  she tells me. "Due date is the twenty-first of June" she adds.

"That was my nana Pat's birthday," a voice says by the door.

There holding a bouquet is Luke, looking nervous and apologetic. "I'm sorry" he blurts holding the flowers. "Shit" he hisses. "Flowers aren't allowed in hospitals anymore are they?" He asks us.
