The Curse

Evangeline's POV

I whimpered as all the memories flooded back at once.

Gabriel transforming into the midnight black wolf from my dreams.

Gabriel fighting another wolf.

Gabriel transforming back into a human

Gabriel driving me back to his house.

Gabriel's mother coming outside.

Realization that Gabriel's whole family were mythical creatures.

Passing out.

I woke up disoriented on a bed in a unfamiliar room. It had black and blue accents everywhere with a flat screen mounted on the wall and a desk neatly tucked in the corner of the room. By the smell of the cologne in the air, I'm guessing that I was in Gabriel's room.

I slowly crept to the door and climbed the stairs as quietly as I could. When I was on the last step, it creaked and everyone's head snapped towards me. Gabriel stood up and made his way toward me but I took a step back. I couldn't exactly trust him after what he turned into.

When he saw that I backed away from him, a pained expression crossed his face and he looked at me with sorrow. The twins ran forward and hugged each of my legs. To say that I was uncomfortable was an understatement.

They hugged my legs tighter and I looked into their little faces. They were crying and it hurt my heart because no matter what, or who they are, they'll always have a piece of my heart.

I sighed and bent down while gathering them in my arms and squeezing them tightly. It seems like everyone in the room was holding their breath and as soon as I hugged the twins, they released it. I looked at them and hugged the twins one last time before standing up and stepping away from them. Mrs. Green rushed forward and ushered the twins upstairs.

"Okay boys, time for bed" she said and the boys groaned and I smiled.

"But we wanna stay with Eva" Greyson sniffled. And Mrs. Green shook her head.

"It's grown up talk, boys. Time for bed because you have school tomorrow"

"But If it's grown up talk, why is Gavin staying?" Garrett asked and Mrs. Green shot him a look,he sighed. "Fine mommy, we're going to bed now. Good night everyone, love you guys" they said at the same time.

As soon as their door closed, I turned and at looked at the remaining Green's. They looked nervous and that made me extremely annoyed.

"Okay, someone better start talking and tell me why he" I said while pointing to Gabriel "turned into a big freakin wolf?!" I hissed. Gabriel looked at his father before gesturing me to sit down. I huffed but reluctantly sat on the couch and he started his story.

"Eva, in order for me to tell you why I turned into a wolf, I have to explain a bit of our family history before" he said and I gestured to continue.

"Alright, it all started a few hundred years ago, about the time when this town was first built. There were 3 prominent families in the area. The Owens, the Devine's, and the Green's. Back then, in order the keep your status, you would have to marry someone with a wealthier or equal status as your own. My great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather was the oldest of the three most eligible bachelor's of that time. His father ran one of the biggest oil company's in the country. When he died from an Unknown heart condition, the company was passed down to my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. This made him the most wanted man in the world. Every woman in the area would try to seduce him because they wanted his status and wealth. But the woman that wanted him the most was Devina Devine." He said and I almost gasped out loud. No one seemed to notice so he continued on with his story. "She was a year older than him and was also the oldest out of 5 siblings. She was cunning, vicious, and evil. Pure evil. She would stop at nothing in order to get what she wanted. She would jump from one wealthy man to the next, and when she heard that my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather came to enquire his father's business, she jumped at the chance to make him hers. She wanted to have the title of being the wife of the most influential person in the country. My grandfather wrote in his diary that she would always follow him wherever he went and would chase off any woman that came near him. She was so obsessed with him that,when he finally (and publicly) denied her, she started practicing dark magic. She even got her 3 other sisters involved. They wanted to exact revenge on the man that broke their sister's heart. The last sister wanted nothing to do with it. She knew that nothing good could come out of this and was actually very good friends with the youngest Green brother. That day, she met with all three Green brothers. The younger two dismissed the problem as child's play, but my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather did not. He was intrigued with the girl and didn't doubt her crazy sister's abilities. He listened to her and eventually started falling for her. When it was time for marriage, his mother was pressuring him to pick a bride and he chose her. They kept their engagement to themselves and soon rumor went around that he was engaged to someone. This enraged the Devine sisters and they wanted to hurt his family. That night, they cast a curse on the Green family. The curse was suppose to turn the Green brothers, and the future generations into these horrible beasts for the rest of their lives. Beasts that were incapable of love and would never have someone to love. But something happened, When the youngest Devine sister caught wind of her sister's plan, she twisted the curse to make them into the mightiest and the most caring creatures in the forest. The Wolf. She gave them the opportunity to love and be loved. And It turns out that she more powerful that all 4 sisters combined because she had nothing but pure intentions in her heart. She defeated her sisters and they disappeared forever. Eventually, my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather married my great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother, and the rest is history" he finished and I stared wide-eyed at him.

No freaking way

I must have entered the Twilight Zone or something.

"Okay, so if what your saying is true, then that means your whole family is a bunch of wolves?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Just my father and my brothers. Since mom isn't a Green by blood, the curse doesn't effect her. But since my brothers, father, and I are, we turn into wolves" he said and I sat back and closed my eyes. This was all too much.

I felt the sofa dip next to me and someone take my hands in theirs. When I opened a eye, Gabriel was staring back at me in concern while rubbing my knuckles in a soothing manner.

"I know, this is a lot to take in. I get that, but please don't think that'll my family or I would ever hurt you" he said softly.

"Why?" I asked quietly.

"What do you mean?" He asked, his eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

"Why me? Why are you telling me all this? I'm just some girl you met less than a week ago" I said and he bit his lip. He looked at his family and they avoided eye contact. He sighed and cupped my face in his hands.

"Because, I trust you more than anyone else" he started and then rubbed his neck nervously when I gave him a questioning look. "Do you remember when I said that my great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother twisted the curse?" He asked and I nodded my head. "Well, when she found out that her sisters were going to make the Green's incapable of love and lonely for the rest of their lives, she made it so that they would have their one true love. This is called a bonder or a mate" he stopped and looked at his parents. They gave him a 'go on' look and he took a deep breath."Their bonder is a the one person that is made for them in every which way. They are together forever and love each other with all their heart. What I'm trying to say is that your my mate Eva. You're the one person I'm meant to be with" he said and I'm pretty sure I passed out again.
