An Invitation

Eva's POV

I blinked.

And then I blinked again.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"Whatcha got there honey?" My mom asked while kissing my head. I looked up and noticed how tried she was. She had bags under her eyes and her hair was a mess.

"It's that invitation to that Ball" I said and she perked up.

"Really? Is this the same Ball that all the women at work talk about?" She asked and I nodded. "When is it?"

I handed her the invitation and she gasped.

"Exactly what I did!" I exclaimed.

"What?...how...why?" Was all she said and I laughed.

"I don't know, Mom"

"Evangeline! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY AND GET YOU READY FOR THE BALL!"

Gabriel's POV

"Knock Knock!" I looked up from my homework to meet the eyes of my brother.

I took off my glasses and rubbed my tired eyes.

"Hey Bro, what's up?" I asked and he made his way onto my bed. He plopped down and I turned in my chair to face him.

"Nothing, just wanted to stop by and give you this!" He said while throwing a red envelope at my head. I caught it and scowled at him. He shrugged and started going through my phone. I rolled my eyes.

An older sibling never gets their privacy.

I snatched my phone from him before he started going threw my texts to Eva. I pointed to the door and he groaned. Suddenly my dad came to my room holding a giggling Grant.

"Boys, your mother and I are going out. Dinner's on the stove. Be good and don't burn down the house. All the emergency numbers are on the fridge. Gabriel, you can invite Eva over if you want. Gavin, have another party and your mother's gonna kill you" he said and I chuckled. Gavin grumbled before taking Grant out of his arms and muttering how life's not fair.

Dad ruffled my hair before leaving my room to find mom.

I grabbed my phone and texted Eva.

Me: Hey! R u busy?

Eva: Nope, just talking to my mom 😊

Me: I'M SO SORRY! Let me leave you alone!😨😳

Eva: Hahaha! It's alright Gabriel. My mom's going to sleep anyway. What's up?

Me: Nothing, just wondering if you wanna come over for dinner. My parents are going out and I could really use help with the twins.

Eva: Sure! I'll be there! C u soon!

I looked at her last text and couldn't help the crazy grin that took over my face.

Soon, I'll have my girl in my arms.

Eva's POV

Just as I was about to knock on the door, it swung open and I came face to face with a dress up Mrs. Green. If she was beautiful before, she was gorgeous now. When she saw me, she smiled.

"Hi Mrs. Green!" I said while giving her a little wave. She rolled her eyes and brought me into a hug.

"Eva, we're practically family now. No need for formalities" she said and I laughed. Mr. Green came down the stairs and grabbed his keys. When he saw me, he beamed and bear hugged me.

"Hey pipsqueak" he said and I scowled. Just because I was shorter than him and Gabriel, doesn't mean that I'm a midget.

He laughed and ruffled my hair before grabbing Mrs. Green around the waist and hauling her out the door.

"Bye Boys!" They yelled and I chuckled.

"GABRIEL! GAVIN! Where are you!" I yelled and I heard the pitter patter of little feet against the hardwood floor. Two little heads peaked around the corner. As soon as they saw me, their little faces brightened up.

I bent down and hugged them before perching each one of them on my hips. They giggled and wrapped their arms around my neck.

I made my way to the kitchen and saw a grumbling Gavin and a happy Gabriel making goofy faces at a giggling Grant. He was making train noises while trying to feed him. Grant grabbed the spoon and flung the food at Gabriel's forehead. The twins and I giggled. Gabriel snapped his head to us and I saw a blush creep up his neck. Gavin laughed and stood up to hug me.

"Hey Sis!" He yelled and I blushed before punching his arm. He glared at me.

"Jesus! Is everyone in this house violent!" He exclaimed before stomping his way up the stairs. I chuckled and made my way over to him.

I grabbed a napkin off the table and tilted Gabriel's head upward. I wiped the baby food off his face before grabbing Grant's food and started feeding him. He clapped his hands and opened his mouth. I giggle at his little toothy smile.

After I fed him, Gabriel changed him and took him to his room. The twins wished me goodnight before going to their room. Gabriel came back and we had dinner together. We laughed so much that he snorted and I cried.

After dinner, we decided to watch a movie and were actually in the middle of it before he suddenly turned it off. I looked at him quizzically and he smiled.

"Come on, I wanna show you something" he said and I smiled.

He led me outside and I looked at him weirdly. He just smiled and pulled me further into the forest. We walked for a couple of minutes before we finally stopped at a beautiful lake.

The moon was shining on it and I couldn't help but awe at its beauty. I looked at Gabriel to find him already watching me.

"What do you think?" He asked softly.

"It's gorgeous" I said and he smiled.

We sat quietly by the lake and put our feet in the water. I watched the water glisten for a couple minutes before turning to Gabriel. He raised an eyebrow.

"Gabriel, can I see your wolf" I asked and he looked surprised.

"Really?" He asked, doubt in his eyes. I nodded my head.

"Yes, I never really got the chance to see him the last time, with...you know...everything that happened" I said and looked down at my hands shyly. I Felt a blush creep up my neck. He put a finger under my chin and raised my head so that our eyes could meet. My breath caught and I was drowning in those blue eyes.

"Of course Love, anything you say" he said and kissed my forehead.

I swear, my heart popped out of my chest.

He went behind a tree and I heard rustling. A second later, the huge black wolf from my dreams came out with Gabriel's clothes in his mouth.

The wolf dropped the clothes and made its way over to me. He put his head in the crook of my neck and shoulder. I laughed and ran my hands through his luscious coat. He purred.

"Hey Boy, Gabriel's told me a lot about you" I said and he sat down while wagging tail with his tongue sticking out. I laughed and he put his big head on my lap. I rubbed his head and he closed his eyes.

Soon, I was cuddled up next to him. His huge warm body enveloping mine.

I was fast asleep and so was he.
