"You ready?" I asked eagerly.
"Let's role!" Liam hollered.
Kolby, Liam, Emma, and I dove into the ocean. As we submerged underwater, I look at everyone to make sure they can all breathe. They all nod, sucking the green tinted water in and out of their lungs.
Emily, Noah, and Taylor stayed back on the ship with Tamara and Maya, since their minds were still a little foggy from the needles they were given from the mermaids. The rest of us swim quickly to Thorun. I soon spot a mermaid gliding gleefully through the village.
"There. We can talk to her." I point. My friends give me assuring nods, and then we dive down to the village.
Soon we reach the joyful mermaid.
"Um, excuse me?" I ask.
The girl stops swimming and looks at us. As she sees our human faces, she draws a knife from a satchel hanging on her shoulder.
"Whoa!" Liam exclaimed, shaking his head back and forth. "We don't mean any harm, trust me."
"But if you do decide to hurt us, we have powers to defend ourselves. But we hope we won't have to use 'em." Kolby acknowledged.
"Right. Here, show her what you can do." I suggest.
Kolby starts to breath fire, but only a bit of steam flutters out his mouth.
"Oh, right. It's water." Emma stated.
Kolby swam a bit behind us and started to curse. I just giggled.
"Well, Emma. D'you want to show her your power?"
"Alright." Emma replied as she began to make the mermaid float up and down. It just looked like the mermaid was swimming.
"Can you levitate objects yet?" Liam asked anxiously.
"Well, I haven't exactly been practicing enough to be able to do that.'' Emma sighed. "Sorry."
Well that was an epic fail.
"We just have a question to ask." I tele-talk to the mermaid. Her eyes open wide as my voice booms through her head.
"Go ahead." she replies sweetly, not withdrawing the knife, though.
"You see, we were given a letter to find our way home, but we don't remember were our home is. Our first clue is somewhere here, in the city of Thorun." Emma explains. "Have you seen it? Or can we at least look for it? I promise you, we will not do any harm or damage to Thorun, and will be on our way shortly."
The sweet mermaid thought about it, then said,
"Alright. I will send out an announcement stating that you are here."
"Thank you so much." I exclaim.
We begin our search as an announcement blared through speaker phones made from shells, explaining why we are here and to not hurt us.A little while later
"I've got it!" Emma screeched. We all rush over to Emma holding a piece of paper. It reads,
Congratulations. You have succeeded in locating your first clue. You must now find your next clue aboard your ship. Trust me, it's there. But this trip is not going to be unicorns and lollypops from here-on-out. Remember, the first note said that only seven of you were going to make it home.
