One Less To Look For

I look over at Emma.
"We should probably go find everyone else. Am I the only one you've found?" I ask.
"You're the first."
"Well then let's go looking." We start walking down the beach in our bare feet. The island was gorgeous- well, at least what I can right now is pretty. There are water falls crashing down into calm lagoons deeper in the forest, and the trees were coated with light brown bark, large Palm leaves sprouting out from the top. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice something moving. I put my arm in front of Emma to stop her from walking forward.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"Follow me. I think I saw something." I whispered. I tiptoe towards the dense forest with Emma right behind me. All of a sudden, I hear
the figure cough. I see a brown animal pop out. No, it's a head covered in brown hair. I look over at Emma. She is just as curious as I am. I shift my head forward again.
" Hello?" I yell. The boy jumps up, his face covered in dirt. He stares at us for a couple of seconds, then his facial expression changed.
"Camryn! Emma!" He exclaimed.
"Kolby?" Emma says. " What were you doing in the ground?"
"Lookin' for worms to fish with." he answers. I don't know if there are worms on tropical islands, but then again we don't even know where we are.
"Come on, Kolb. We gotta find the others." I say as I walk back out of the forest.
"Wait, who are the others?" I stop walking. That was a good question. I don't even know who else is here. I try to provide the best answer I can.
"We don't know, yet. But we need your help to find them."
"Well, there's one less to look for now." He said as he walked out ahead of me. We began walking fairly quickly. But as soon as we had walked around a drastic turn, we stopped in our tracks. That's when we realized how big this island really was. It stretched as far as I could see, blocking out any view of the ocean other than the water right beside us. Our jaws dropped.
"Holy frickety frack." Kolby whined, stretching out every word he said drastically.
"That's a lot of walking." I said.
"That's gonna take a while to walk." Emma added.
"No, really?" Kolby shouted sarcastically.
We laughed a little bit, then sighed almost in unison.
"So, should we start walking?" Emma suggested.
"Yeah, sure. Why not." I answered. We started walking at a slower pace down the almost never ending beach, hoping that this decision wouldn't come back to bite us.
