"So, has anyone new found their power yet?" Noah asked. I was too busy eating an orange that I almost forgot about discovering my own.
"I think I have.'' I answer. Everyone turns their heads toward me with eager faces.
"What is it!?" Taylor exclaims.
"Well," I start as I wipe the juice from my mouth, "earlier today when we were being chased by those mermaids, I whispered to myself, 'Stop chasing us.' Immediately after I said that, the mermaids stopped and looked at me with apologetic faces, then swam away."
"So what's your power? Are you the president of underwater killers, 'er somethin'?" Kolby joked.
"No." I sneer. "I think I can talk to animals."
"OMG!" Emma screeches with excitement.
"Wait, wouldn't your power be controlling animals? I mean, you basically brainwashed the mermaids." Liam argued.
"Well, in my mind I was saying sorry and how we didn't mean any harm. Then I said 'Please stop chasing us."
"Oohhhh." said Liam.
"Wait, aren't humans animals?" mentioned Noah. We all answered with a yes, surprised Noah didn't quite know.
"That was a rhetorical question. Yes, I know that humans are animals. Anyway, Cam, if you can talk to animals through your mind, maybe you can talk to us through your mind!"
"Worth a shot!" I exclaim. "Who wants to be the one I try it on first?"
"ME!" Taylor volunteered.
"Alright." I answer with a giggle.
I wobble over to Taylor and sit down across from her. I close my eyes and think,
"If you can here me, do duck lips."
I open my eyes, and Taylor is doing duck lips!
"Okay, try to answer the following question with your mind; What's your favorite food?"
I hear nothing at first, but then Taylor's cheery voice rings through my head, screaming "NUTELLA!"
We both start cracking up.
"What?!" Kolby asked.
"Nothin'!" Taylor teased.
"Can you communicate through your mind?" asked Emily.
"Yep!" I answer.
"So, what are you gonna call this sort of 'head talk'?" asked Liam. I took a moment to think of a cool name.
"Tele-talk, because it's like our words are being teleported to each others minds."
"Hmph, I like it!" said Liam.
"Tele-talk it is!" yelled Emma.
