Their Happy Ending

"Run!" the words barely escape my mouth. I was terrified. Five mutant wolves were chasing us. Five.
I see my friends sprinting towards the rock Noah was on. They began stomping on corners of it, breaking off sharp sections. Weapons.
"Tamara! Can you make a barrier that'll hold off those wolves for a bit?" I gasp. The wolves were right behind me. Tamara stops breaking off pieces of the rock and slashes her right hand in front of her body. A stone wall appears as a wolf lunged at us. We heard a giant thud behind the barrier, then howling. One must be dead. We all grab a sharp stone in unison as we hear the four wolves charging over and over again at the rock wall. Little cracks started forming, and they expanded fast.
"It's not gonna hold!" Kolby screeches.
Liam starts running in an opposite direction, waving at us to follow.
He directed us to a cave near the end of the island.
"Get in quickly!" he demanded. As soon as we were all inside, there was a huge crash coming from where the barrier was. I cursed under my breath.
The pounding footsteps grew louder with every second passing by.
"We will all throw the stones at them on three." Maya announced quietly. "One. Two. Three!" We launched our rocks at the bare field. They hit the wolves just as they came by the cave.
"Great timing!" Kolby exclaimed.
The wolves stopped, then looked into the cave.
"Ugh." Taylor grumbled.
"I will make a distraction. Go!" Liam ordered.
"No! You'll die!" Emily screeched, not obeying Liam.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm sort of a genius when it comes to escape plans." he beamed. "Now, go."
Emily starred at him, a faint smile appearing, then jogged towards me. We all dodge around the four wolves as Liam yells at them. All four dogs run at Liam, ignoring us. I slow down to a stop and turn around. At the very last second, Liam ducked under the wolves legs. Once he reached the back side of the angry dogs, he splashed some of his water at them. As Emily, Liam and I catch up to the rest of our friends, they shot me scared glances.
"I splashed magic water on them so they fall asleep, for a little while." Liam explains.
Everyone nods.
"We need to split the wolves up. They're less dangerous when they're alone." I announce. Emma walks a couple steps closer to the cave and begins levitating the wolves. They didn't wake up. She spun them around. They still didn't wake up.
"Let me do it." Kolby grumbled. He walk up to Emma and blew fire on the dogs. They jotted awake immediately.
"Run in separate directions, now!" I exclaim.
We all start running in separate directions. The four wolves split up and follow their own prey. No wolf chased me, so I sprint to the rocks we had previously broke and gathered as many as possible in my small arms. I then jog for a few seconds and see Noah, a wolf right on his tail. I stand on the top of the stone cave and wait anxiously for Noah and the wolf to pass by. As he approaches, I drop the rocks at my feet and hold one in my hand. Noah sees me with the sharp stone and smiles. He directs the wolf across the field to the cave. As he runs along the bottom of it, I whip the rock at the giant dog's head.
"Duck!"
Noah tilts his head downward and continues running while looking at the grass. The rock nails the wolf right on top of its head, and it falls to the ground.
"Dead?" I ask.
"Unconscious. Where are the rest of those rocks?"
I point at my feet. Noah nods and climbs up the side of the cave. We signal everyone else who are being chased by the wolves to come towards us. Maya sprints wicked fast towards us. Noah and I launch our rocks, knocking the wolf out. Emma runs up to us, along with Tamara, Taylor, Emily, Liam, and Kolby.
"Where are the other two wolves?" Kolby asked.
"I thought you guys had them." I reply, panic beginning to rise in my body. Instantly, a wolf lunges out from behind me, it's claws grasping my arm. It jumps off the side if the cave, dragging me down with it.
Pain sears through me as my head bangs against a sharp stone. Spots start appearing in my vision. The landing was more painful then expected. My limbs went limp as my body landed on the hard ground like a rag doll. I hear screaming coming from a distance. I slowly turn my head around and see Kolby yelling at the wolf. The dog slowly walks toward him and everyone else, growling viciously. They begin throwing rocks at it, which the wolf dodges quickly. I tilt my eyes down to my arm. Blood was flowing out of claw marks. I look back up at the blue sky. I feel something thick land on my nose. Drool. The last wolf looks down on me. I lay there, defenseless. The wolf opens it's mouth and flashes it's sharp, blood-stained teeth. As the wolf tilts his head down to chew off my head, I see Noah jumping up at it, turning into a mutant wolf himself in mid-air! He tackles the wolf to the ground and pins it. The wolf that was about to kill me turns into a boy! Noah switches back into his human self and smirks.
"No supper for you today!" he laughs. Taylor and Tamara help me up off the ground.
"Noah! You found your power!" Emma exclaimed.
"Yeah! I know! It's pretty wicked, am I right?"
We laugh at Noah while he flashes his muscles, one foot settled on the boy-wolf thing. I see a girl stumble over to us, a bump settled on her head.
"Ooww." she mutters, eyeing Noah and I.
"Sorry," he mumbles. "you were about to eat my friends... So we sorta had to, uh, ya know, hit you with a rock."
A smile forms on my face.

.....................A while later...................

The boy's name was Macauley. He had chestnut brown hair that swept across his forehead, covering half of his eyes. The girl was named Azrieal, but she went by Azzie. Her black frizzy hair reached just above her shoulder blades. The other two wolf-human-things had woken up also. One was named Michael, who has fire colored hair, and the other was named Sarah. She was pale with short brown hair done up in a messy bun. The one that we had thought had died was in fact still alive. It was a girl with red hair and bangs that covered her right eye. She had a nose piercing and caramel colored skin. Her name was Chelsea.
They were all short-tempered and a little unpredictable, but apologized frequently for attacking us.
The one that pulled me down the cave was Azzie. My arm was washed off and is all bandaged now, and I have a bad cut above my eyebrow. Other then that, I was fine. Noah had a badly sprained ankle. I guess he hurt it while climbing the cave. As we began to get back on our raft, I noticed Noah was being hesitant about leaving the island.
"What's wrong, Noah?" I ask. Noah shifts all of his weight onto his good foot and sighs.
"Well, I don't really want to go home. This is where I belong-with my fellow wolf-people. I know the point of this trip was to find our way home, but not all of us are going to make it there And I'm pretty sure my parents wouldn't be too fond of having a wolf for a son."
I stood there with my mouth half open. I couldn't think of anything to say, so I just gave him a hug. As we let go of each other, Liam struts over and pats Noah on the back.
"Ya know, I think I am gonna stay here, too. I was meant to be free, to always be on my wild side, and I can't do that when my family is all around. Besides, I wanna stay with ma bud Noah!"
I felt tears welling up in my eyes. The thought of losing two of my friends was awful. But this was what they wanted, and I wasn't going to stop them from their happy ending. Michael and Macauley both punched Noah and Liam playfully, cheering about how epic their life was about to become. I whisper to Noah and Liam both,
"Thank you for, well saving my life." They give me and everyone else one last hug.
All of the girls plus Kolby boarded onto the boat. We waved at our friends as our raft departed into the ocean, realizing that this is the last time we will ever see our great friends again.

Author's note:
I can't believe I've written 20 chapters! Thank y'all sooooo much for voting, commenting, and reading this story! This is about the half way mark of my story and I am aiming to finish at 50 chapters. I am writing a prequel to "A Place Called Home" though! It's called "Cyprus". I'm not publishing it until this story is done, though. I want to say thanks again for the support I've had from my friends and let me know if there is anything I can improve on!
