She knew, and I needed to find her.
I walk out to the living room, and my sister can see the dread in my eyes. "She knows" is all she says.
I look out the cabin window to see my sister's and Kevin's car sitting out front. "How did both cars get back here last night?" I ask.
"When Kevin and I got back, she demanded that I drive her home. I tried waking you up, but you were too far gone," she winces when she says this.
"Happy Fucking New Year," I growl out.
I am at Lynne's house knocking on the door when Lisa opens the door. "What do you want?" she snarls out. It looked like she had been crying all night long.
"I am here to see Lynne," I say.
"Lynne left last night," she says, venom seething through her. She has to know too. I pushed past her walking up the stairs hoping she had been lying and Lynne would be sitting in her room. The room is empty when I step in. All six journals from her shelf are sitting on her bed with a note on top of them.
Use them if you want. But I have a feeling you have everything you need.
She was gone, and I didn't have a chance to even explain. Lisa had to know what had happened since she had asked me to leave. I leave the journals behind and retreat to the cabin. On my lab top, I go into my trash bin and delete the rough draft I worked on. I start from scratch.
