The pack was spread out all over the front property, keeping their eye out for any moves the two men would dare to try. They were surrounded on the porch, cuddled far back from them, their skin hardening with goosebumps. They tried keeping quiet, breathing slow and steady as they leaned against the railing, their hands cloaking around the smooth pine bars.

Jake made a move to the door. The vampires stepped back, gluing their limps together. He stopped and glanced at their white paled faces as though they've just seen a ghost.

"What the hell is wrong with you guys? You're acting like I'm infected with some deadly virus."

They both gulped, clearing their throats. "You don't understand."

"Mind telling me then so I can understand?"

Before one of them could a car pulled into the dirt driveway. Out came Layla and the twins, running to them in a frenzy. They noticed the visitors huddled on the porch, Jake frowning as one of them muffled words he didn't want to hear.

"Who are they?" Greg asked squinting against the morning sun.

"I don't even think you'll want to know." Jeff said with a crooked smile.

It seemed like the vampires had enough of Jake's babbling and jumped over the porch. The brown haired man walked over to Layla, his body swaying drunkenly like an ape.

"Before we give away who we are, it would be nice if you didn't attack us, especially with your teeth. We're not here to hurt anyone."

"You're already giving me a bad impression."

"Sorry."

The man took in a breath. "We're vampires. We just saved your friends here from those hunters that seemed were after your asses."

Her eyes widened, burning against the sun's light but she didn't care. "You guys killed them?"

"Not all of them." he said nodding at Jeff who still wore his bloody flannel.

He explained what happened, how they jumped out from the bushes and tore away at their sweaty necks. But Layla wanted more answers.

"Why did you come here?"

"Well, we were just wandering around here until we heard shouts."

"And you're still here?"

He scanned the property for the bearded man. "Grumpy cat over there didn't want us leaving. Why don't you ask him?" he said pointing to him.

Layla turned to Derek, his bulky arms crossed with the same expression he always had on his face. He always looked miserably and serious, his brows glued into a frown, his teeth hidden behind the curtain of his mouth.

"Well?"

He walked over to her. "I've heard of vampires, but never seen one walk. There hasn't been any here for centuries since the majority of them hide in the States where there's less of us, especially after hearing werewolves dominated the North.

"I forgot to mention we're Canadians too." he said raising his hand.

"Why? What's the problem with werewolves?"

His mouth gaped open to speak, but the vampire cut him off.

"That's a secret."

"Not if I know about it."

He let out a sigh.

"Werewolves and vampires hate each other. They're afraid of us because one bite will kill them. There's no cure, so these bloodsuckers like to stay far away from our jaws because they think we can't control ourselves."
