Leo Valdez's POV:
"Wait, what's the date?" Camp looked a little different than I remembered, but as I stood on the top of the hill over looking the strawberry fields, I noticed something festive was going on. The pavilion was full of campers and Romans toasting and singing. I became startlingly aware that it was summer as Jason and Piper gave me confused looks.
"Well, it's midnight," Claire was looking at her phone. Her and Cas had brought the kids to meet up with us so we could bring them to the safety of camp. "So, August first?"
"Can we wait till tomorrow?"
"Leo, relax," Piper smiled. "We celebrate the defeat of Gaia every year. This is what Jason and I were talking about when we told you we told you we were planning on coming back to camp a week ago."
"Besides," Jason started pushing me forwards down the hill. "We're sort of celebrating you too, hero. You did get the final blow in after all. You're like the VIP."
"Exactly," I dug my heels in. "We should do this like tomorrow or the next day. Or like not right now."
"It's fine Leo," Piper smirked as she grabbed my arm and started pulling. "Nyssa will only punch you a few times for vanishing into thin air for ten years."
As we got closer to the lights, I managed to free my arms so I could pull up my hood, "This is a terrible idea. Can we just find Chiron and communicate the important--"
"Piper!" It was Annabeth. She looked different, well older. More mature, and behind her came Percy. He now had a goatie, and it looked way too good on him. He always had the looks. As Annabeth reached us, she threw her arms around Piper's neck, "I was starting to get worried. No word form you in a week, I was going to organize a search party if you guys didn't show up tonight!"
"Sorry Annabeth," Piper hugged the blond back. "It's been a long week."
"No kidding," Percy gave Jason a hug too. "You guys aren't even in party clothes."
"There's a reason for that," Jason grabbed my wrist. I'd slowly been shuffling towards the back of the group, trying to turn invisible. "And I'm afraid we're going to be the bearers of bad news tonight."
"Well, not all bad news," Piper grabbed my other hand to drag me forward as I kept my head as low as I could. My hood was designed to let the darkness hide my face and we were a bit away from the main lights, but that would only do so much.
"What kind of bad news?" Annabeth's tone turned all business. "Do we need Chiron and the councilors?"
"Yes," Jason said sadly. "This can't wait."
"We'll get them," Percy said briskly. "Meet us at the Big House."
They ran off into the small crowd and I sighed, "Great, now there will be even more people to kill me, again."
"Comes with the territory of dying on people," Dean thumped my shoulder. "Where's this Big House?"
I sat on a sofa at the front of the room with Sam, Dean, Claire, and Cas. Michael was showing Chance around with Percy and Annabeth's daughter, Sally. I found myself nearly in tears, again, seeing how my friends lives had moved on and how happy they seemed. That made my throat tighten. Of course, when I come back, I come back with bad news and more problems for them to fight. Typical me. Maybe that was why I had yet to take down my hood, even though I could feel the eyes of the demigods on me. I was going to stay hidden as long as I could, but I already knew it was me that had to do the talking, eventually. It took about half an hour to round up everyone we needed. Among them, I recognized Reyna, Nico, Will, Percy, Annabeth, Hazel, Frank, and Nyssa, but there was at least ten others. They must be the new cabin Counselors.
