well, yet another long week had passed and now it was the first day back at college. a week since your splotch with eren, as well as a week since you'd actually heard from him. you'd expected as much, but the initial anger and resentment slowly fizzled out to lament and a tinge of guilt.

sure, you were hurt by his indirect, yet implied confession to cheating —which really was just you assuming and ultimately following your 'intuition' spurred on by months of unresolved heartbreak— but you began to feel remorse for the way you treated him. you hardly 'heard him out' as ashanti had advised you to do, but how could you? you were a tipsy, in pain emotional and physical, mentally vulnerable mess, and all while having a splitting headache that put your patience levels well in the negatives.

but still, you'd never gotten a clear answer from eren, and even if you believed one thing, you still wanted to hear him say it with his own mouth.

you were restless, this single thought taunting you and dancing around on your conscience for the rest of the break, the uncertainty of it all slowly driving you up the wall. it's not like you could impulsively text eren and beg him for an answer, you were sure you'd probably hurt him enough. you'd just feel even more shame for being the one to contact him first after kicking him out how you did.

so you push the thought to the deepest depths of your brain, keeping your mind occupied with other things to keep the insecurity from resurfacing as you drag yourself from the warm comfort of your home into the harsh mid-january weather.

you and your bestfriends arrive at the dreaded campus, going your separate ways with the plan to meet up after classes. you leave after assuring them you were going to be fine on your own, although it wasn't very convincing.

they watched your slumped figure shuffle through the doors of the english building for your first class, and once you were out of sight ashanti turned to kimora with a knowing look on her face.

"kimora. why are we doing this to her? why can't we just tell her that eren told you he didn't cheat? did you not believe him?" she said irritably, kimora shortly sighing as she turned to her.

"dude, when has she ever listened to anything we had to say on this situation? i'm not interfering or trying to convince her of anything else, she needs to figure this shit out the hard way." kimora said definitively, grasping ashanti's hand and tugging her the other way, "come on, we have class."

you walk through the familiar halls of the english building, slightly dragging your feet as you near the doors of your american literature class. frowning and silently whining, you swing the door open and walk in, managing to slip in unnoticed. this just had to be the class you had with mikasa, of course.

the short man with a permanent scowl you knew as your professor turned from the board as soon as you settle down in your usual seat next to historia and ymir, eyes scanning over the crowd before promptly beginning class.

"welcome back, little devils. hope you had a good break, hope some of you didn't come back pregnant," he says in a monotone voice, "for those of you who are new this semester, i'm levi ackerman, but you will address me as professor ackerman."

"my rules are simple, shut up when im talking and don't mess up my room. follow those and this semester should go by without me kicking someone's ass." he deadpans, silently waiting for any objections, though when there are none, he whips around to the large production board, "all right, let's dive in."

you settle into your seat, popping in one earbud to listen to music as you feel a tap on your shoulder, you already guessed who it would be, but you were half hoping they wouldn't try to get your attention, for obvious reasons.
