Synopsis: Effy meeting her 'Grandparents' for the first time.

Summer of 2024
Persefoni's POV

I was sitting in my kitchen eating some pasta that Bucky and Sam brought me, when I heard a crash from the living room and I froze. Ron said he wouldn't be home until dinner an I wasn't expecting anyone. I slowly and silently made my way to the bookshelf where I had a gun hidden before making my way through the house.

"Look what you did. Some first impression. That was probably expensive." A female voice called with a thick Russian accent. I peeked my head around the corner to see a man an a woman standing in front of a broken flower vase as the flowers Steve got me where scattered across the floor and water soaked into the carpet. Seriously, why does everyone have to break my vases when they break into my house?!

"The little one will understand, I'm sure. We are reuniting family! I here she was the best of the best, her ledger gushing with red!" The man cheered as the two began to argue I slowly walked closer to them before pointing my gun towards the woman only for her to spin around and kick it out of my hand. I quickly blocked the punch she threw and caught the gun before it could hit the ground while simultaneously flipping her over. The two of us fought back an forth for a few seconds before I pinned her to the ground.

"Melina? I thought you were dead." I scoffed looking at the familiar woman, we'd met a few times back in my red room days but I haven't heard or seen her since I left.

"Seems that I'm not. You've gotten better in your take downs." She smiled up at me

"Saving the world will do that to a person. What the hell are you doing in my house, and who's the idiot that broke my vase?" I asked as I pulled her to her feet before waving my hand and the vase was back on the coffee table like it was never broken.

"I am your Dedushka!" (Дедушка: Russian: Grandfather) He explained with a wide smile as he raised his arms as if he was expecting me to hug him.

"Hmm...I'm calling my mother. Don't touch anything." I said pulling my phone out of my pocket.

"Hello?" Nat asked answering on the first ring

"Hey Ma, Melina Vostokoff is standing in my living room with a man who thinks he's my grand-" I was cut off by both Nat and Yelena stepping through the fireplace with Steve and Bucky quick to follow.

"What are you doing here?" Nat asked glaring at the uninvited guests.

"Captain America! My greatest rival!" The man announced pointing at Steve

"Have we met?" Steve asked confused

"No, but he's convinced himself that you guys fought during the Cold War but you'd already been in the ice for three years when that started." Yelena explained so Steve nodded his head.

"Can we get back on track please? Why are you in my living room talking about my ledger? No better yet, why are you in my living room uninvited?" I asked waving my arms around only to quickly put them down when I remembered I had a gun in my hand.

"Well we were in the area, we thought it was time to meet our granddaughter. Wouldn't you agree?" Melina asked causing Nat and Yelena to scoff.

"So you broke into her house? You're lucky she didn't kill you." Yelena commented with her arms crossed as she subtly shifted her body so she was standing in front of me.

"Well we thought if we called ahead you would have told her not to open the door." The man who still hadn't introduced himself said with a shrug.

"Yeah, and for good reason." Bucky muttered glaring at Melina.

"Hello James, you're looking well." She said with a blank expression on her face.

"Don't talk to him." I snapped angrily. Everyone at the Red Room knew their history. Melina was the head of one of the Winter Solider's most successful mind control projects in history. She broke him down just to build him back up in HYDRA's image.

"Oh don't be like that vnuchka."(внучка:Russian:granddaughter) The man spoke in a soft tone.

"I'm sorry, who are you? If your so great then why has Nat never mentioned you once since I've known her?" I asked

"It's me! The Red Guardian, Alexei Alanovich Shostakov!" He exclaimed like this is something I should be excited about but I just stared at him with a blank expression.

"Persefoni! You were the best thing the rest room ever produced! You must be very proud Natasha, I am sure that the red that follows you is as thick as the ocean!" Alexi cheered with a wide smile on his face

"Can I hit him?" I asked looking over at Nat

"If you don't, I will." Yelena whispered as Alexi looked at both of us in confusion so I picked up a magazine from the edge of the couch and tossed it towards him. I was posing on the front cover with the title words being:

PERSEFONI ROMANOFF: Savior of the world!

"Watch the news old man. I'm not an assassin anymore." I informed him rolling my eyes

"Well..." He muttered as the door opened and we all turned to see Ron standing there.

"Who are you?" Alexi asked and his eyes scanned the room before they landed on me.

"Effy? What's going on?" He asked confused

"Um, my grandparents decided to break into our house. An I'm debating on whether or not I should stab my grandfather." I replied and he nodded walking over to the box on the floor near where I was standing and picking it up.

"I forgot this, this morning. Wonderful to see everyone, bye love I'll be home for dinner. Don't get blood in the house." He said before quickly leaving.

"He seemed uncharacteristically calm about that." Nat commented confused.

"Look around Ma, this is a room full of the deadliest people on earth. If Clint was here he probably wouldn't have come inside. He's probably just in shock." I shrugged.

"We should invite him-"

"If I ever catch you anywhere near him I will hurt you. Like I said my mother has never mentioned you once and that is enough for me to know that she doesn't trust you. And given the fact that you're happier with the idea of me killing innocent people than you are with me saving lives means I don't trust you either. I don't trust either of you. So get out of my house. I'm not gonna ask again." I said glaring at the two.

"You're upset. I understand that, but we just want a chance at a fresh start with our girls. Is that to much to ask?" Melina asked.

"Yes." Nat an Yelena both said in unison.

"Persefoni, we bonded in the red room, did we not? Surely you won't cast me out." She tried to reason

"You lied to me. You made me think I was doing the right thing, you let me believe that I was a hero. But I was slaughtering innocent people for basically no reason. You made me control Bucky, you told me he would kill me if I didn't make him comply. What bond do you think we could have possibly created?! I hate you." I hissed angrily as I felt Bucky grab my hand.

"It's time for you to go." Steve said in a demanding tone that left no room for arguments. For a second it seemed like they were going to protest but they turned and left, closing the door behind them.

"Hey, it's okay. It's alright sweetheart." Bucky whispered as he hugged me

"I hate her, I hate her so much." I whispered as angry tears started pouring from my eyes.

"It's okay. I'm here, you're here. We got out, and we never have to go back." Bucky said in a soothing tone.
