As Spidey was swinging through the city on his way back home, he wondered who the impostor could have been. One of his old foes? Someone completely different? Could it have been someone he knew? He pushed the possibility to the back of his mind as he landed on his window. As quietly as he could, he opened up his window and crawled inside.

When he got inside he heard aunt May's footsteps slowly creep up the stairs. Peter's eyes widened. He ripped off his mask and threw it in his wardrobe, shooting a web at the door handle to close it. Then he leapt into the covers so his aunt wouldn't see him in his suit. Aunt May got to her nephew's room and opened the door, an awkward creaking emanating from the joints of the doorway.

"Peter why are you so late home," she whispered, crossing her arms. "What? I still have a curfew?" he replied. "My house my rules, if you're still living here you have to abide by them."

Peter scoffed and said, "In about 6 months I'll be able to legally drink, and you're saying I still have to follow your rules?" There was a smile plastered across his face. "Peter, I'm serious!" May replied. She would have been yelling if it weren't for the late hour. "I can't have you coming back so late at night. You were doing so well with the curfews I gave you. Don't start coming home late again!" she argued.

The smug grin Peter had was wiped completely off. He could tell coming home so late stressed her out. He apologised for worrying her and assured her it wouldn't happen again. Aunt May apologised for giving out before letting out an exasperated sigh and wishing him a good night's rest.

Being Spidey again also means coming home late all the time again. Which means Aunt May being worried all the time again. The more Peter thought about it the more his head spun. He pushed it to the back of his mind, like he seemed to do with a lot of things, and went to sleep.

Bright and early the next day, Peter was at the Bugle again, despite sleeping so late. He was on his way to Jameson to try to stop him from posting anymore Spider-Man pictures. He knew it was a bit of a lost cause, but there was no harm in trying. As he entered the elevator, a voice called out to him to hold the door.

Without thinking he quickly put his foot between the closing elevator doors. A smile crept up his face when he saw you running towards him. You gripped the strap of your bag with one arm while your other swung by your side. As you made it inside the elevator, your hands landed on your knees as you tried catching your breath. "We have to stop meeting like this," Peter muttered, watching the elevator doors closed.

You pushed out a heavy and exhausted breath as you stood up straight. "Ha. Yeah well, a certain bug boy kept me up all night," you replied. "Oh you were talking with Spider-Man last night?" he questioned, playing dumb - something he found himself doing frequently. "Mhm," you said nodding. Then as you realised what you had just called your idol, you quickly said to Peter, "Uh- don't tell him I called him bug boy..."

Peter chuckled at the irony but promised he wouldn't tell Spider-Man. "Ahem. So what are you doing here anyway?" you enquired, trying to change the subject. "Oh, well Spidey told me to talk to Jameson about the pictures of him. He said I should try and get him to stop publishing the papers cause they're pretty incriminating," he explained.

You scoffed and wondered, "Isn't that a bit of a lost cause." Peter shrugged and said it pretty much was, but he could atleast try. "Well I'm glad to see you again anyway," you said smiling. Peter looked at you surprised. When you saw his expression, your own became confused and worried. Why did he look so shocked? you wondered. "You're...glad to see me?" He repeated.

"Yeah man, aren't we friends? Why do you look so surprised? Did I say something?" you asked him, looking back at him. "No it's just...nevermind," he mumbled, looking away. "Hm. Well I'm here because as I'm sure you now know, I am at the dark lord's every whim," you jokingly said with a sigh. A smile was brought to your face when you heard Peter laughing. "The dark lord?" he repeated.

The elevator door rang and the two of you walked out giggling together. The giggling was quickly stopped as an angry Mr. Jameson charged towards you. "L/N! YOU'RE 73 SECONDS LATE TO WORK!" he yelled, pointing at the clock. You profusely apologised but he only kept talking over you and lecturing you, all in his grate-y, and very angry voice. As he did, Peter caught a glimpse of the latest newspaper.

On the cover was Spider-Man, but it wasn't the same picture as before. This was a picture of him holding a brown bag filled with what he assumed was money and running alongside a bunch of other crooks in a bank. Peter's mouth hung open in shock. The title read, "Spider-Man turned evil!" and the subheading read, "Spider-Man has indeed returned, but not for the reasons you think he has!"

A groan echoed from Peter's chest while he picked up the newspaper. "The impostor is trying to frame me. But why? Who could it be?" he mumbled to himself. "What do you mean frame you?" you said. "What? I meant Spidey. The impostor is trying to frame Spidey," he replied, awkwardly looking around. You saw the picture and read the headlines, your eyebrows furrowing as you did. "This couldn't have been him," you told Peter.

Peter already knew it wasn't him but he might as well have played the part. "Why do you say that?" he asked. "Look here," you said pointing at a specific spot in the newspaper. "It says this photo was taken last night. But he was with me the whole time last night." Peter looked at you raising an eyebrow, "All night? What were you two doing?"

You felt your cheeks heating up. "We were talking obviously what do you think? We just chat together you know? All the time," you defended, keeping your eyes glued to the newspaper. You rolled your eyes as you heard a quiet laugh roll from Peter's chest. The laughter was quickly cut short however as Peter's Spider Sense was triggered.

He looked around the room to see what the danger was, but before he could do anything a thunderous crash roared throughout the area as the wall opposite you two caved in. Seconds after, screams of terror echoed and bounced off the crumbling walls. Everyone began running around, looking for the nearest exit.

In the noise and panic, you and Peter were separated. Peter took that as his opportunity to find cover and quickly wear his suit so he could better take care of the situation. You on the other hand were trying to look for Peter so the both of you could get away.

After Peter wore his suit, he quickly made his way to the outside of the building so it wouldn't seem like he was already there. He swung in to the open hole where the wall was destroyed. After being spotted by someone, they called out his name, alerting others of his presence.

"Spider-Man?!"

"I don't believe it!"

"Oh thank the lord, we're saved!"

"He's back!"

"Get us out of here Spider-Man!"

There was a rush of pleas and remarks as more people saw him. Spider-Man tried calming every one down, instructing them to get out of the building as quickly as possible. "Spider-Man!" you called out to him. Everyone else ran away from the scene while you got yourself further wrapped up in it. "Y/n, I need you to go to every floor and make sure everyone is out. Check the closests, the bathrooms, make sure everyone is out of this building," he instructed.

"What?!" you protested, "No way man, you need me up here! This must be the work of the impostor, what if he comes and then takes your place, we'll be doomed then!" Spider-Man let out a frustrated groan and begged you to just listen to him. "Trust me when I say I know what I'm doing, just get out of here as fast as you can!"

You gave him a look of dissapprovement but decided to listen to him and check if anyone else was still in the building. As soon as he saw you leaving he let out a sigh of relief. He had to admit he had no clue what he was doing, but the last thing he'd do is get any civilians involved. Suddenly there was a low chuckle echoing from behind him. It quickly morphed into a booming cackle that dripped in bad intent. Spidey quickly turned around to see where it came from.

It was...him?
