Peter scrolled through his phone boredly, trying to distract himself from the loudness of the cafe. It was a lot busier than the last time he was here. He looked up to find you behind the counter, wiping down the surface. He rose his hand up with the intent to call out to you when Elise came up from behind you, wrapping her arms around your torso in a warm embrace.

He let out a sigh and put his hand down. They sure are spending a lot of time with her, he thought to himself. You turned around in her arms and laid a smooch across her lips. Peter rolled his eyes, thinking; so much PDA, couldn't they get a room? A hefty puff of air forced its way out of his chest as he looked back down at his phone.

A few minutes later you brought his order to him. "Hey man. Sorry, I know this isn't what you thought when I said 'hangout at the cafe'. Things have just been hectic here," you explained. "It's cool. You seem to be having a good time with Elise," he replied, not knowing if he meant it in a genuine or passive aggressive way.

"Definitely. Work is fun. But I'll make it up to you. We'll go somewhere I can't be guilt-tripped into working an extra shift," you joked, prompting a quiet laugh from Peter. Before the conversation could continue further, Elise showed up out of nowhere. "Babe come on! Those orders aren't gonna fill up themselves and we have to win that coupon!" she whined, tapping your shoulder.

"Alright alright! Damn, you love coffee so much why don't you marry it," you replied as you stood up from the booth. "I'll marry you!" She hissed already beginning to walk away. "Wait what?" you said, taking a second glance at her. "What is she fussing about?" Peter asked, searching for some context. "Oh. Our boss is making all of us compete against each other for sales. Whoever wins gets a coupon for free coffee for the next 2 weeks."

"Wow. I now can see why everything is on the line," he sarcastically replied. "I know right, if she doesn't get that coupon the universe will implode," you said, waving him goodbye and walking back to the counter. Peter sighed as he watched you leave before looking down at his drink. He used the wooden lollipop stick inside the cup to swirl around the coffee.

About four hours later, Peter was still sitting by himself in the cafe. His table was filled with cups of different shapes and sizes. You came to check up on him periodically, but neither of you could call that hanging out. Atleast now your shift was over. The remaining customers were escorted out of the shop and the area was cleaned. Tables were wiped, glasses were collected, chairs were tucked in. Soon enough the place was spotless.

You and Elise kissed each other goodbye before she left through the back door, beginning her journey home. "Y/n! So good to see you! How long has it been, 10 years?" Peter chimed, his tone laced with sarcasm and irritation. "I'm sorry ok! I got carried away. Are you tired? We could watch a movie or something?" you proposed, as the two of you left the café and began walking home.

"Nah it's okay. But I think we need to talk about Elise," he mumbled. You looked up at him and asked him what he meant. "I think...there's something going on with her. Something we're missing," Peter explained to you. You scoffed before saying, "Don't tell me May finally got into your head."

"I know, I know. May is a bit of a...cautious person," he started, pausing to think of the right words. "But I've learned to trust her hunches this past decade and a half or so. She usually isn't wrong with these things," he shrugged with his hands in his pockets.

"I get it, you Parkers have this weird, 'I can tell the future' thing going on. And I know me and Elise have only been together for a few weeks, but she's a good person. At the end of every year she donates her old clothes to charity. She always rounds up her change so the extra can be donated. My guy, she even does volunteer work in the local park. I mean if that doesn't tell you about her character I don't know what does," you replied with a scoff.
