Alex's Point of View
Waking up was something I didn't expect to do. So when the hospital room came into view, I had mixed emotions. When you mentally prepare yourself to die, but you don't, it kind of turns your life upside down.
"Alex? Alex! You're awake," Hayley started screaming. She grabbed my hand, and held it close to her. The other guys ran in from hearing Hayley's screaming. Everyone was here, even Taylor and Jeremy.
I opened my mouth to say something, but my throat hurt so bad. I start coughing, which caused Hayley to start panicking.
"I'm fine," I managed to get out. My voice was scratchy, and I sounded like shit.
"It's good to see you alive, man," Rian said. I looked around at everyone's faces individually. Even Taylor and Jeremy, whom I'd barely talked to, looked as concerned as everyone else. I realized that I had these six people here that loved me so much.
After I got released from the hospital, and I put my statement in with the cops, I was sent home. Hayley and the guys also gave their statements.
We went home, but decided we wanted to go out for food. We all needed to shower, so Jack went with Taylor and Jeremy to their hotel. Rian and Zack got in the showers first, and I took Hayley down to the basement.
"It's a huge mess," I said as we started down the stairs. "But it's perfect for us."
I held onto her hand, and we went around the corner. Hayley laughed as she took in her surroundings.
There were pizza boxes piled up in the corner, and dirty laundry everywhere. She put her hand over her mouth to try to hide her laughing. I put my arm around her back, and pulled her closer. She put her hands on my shoulders.
"Whatever gets the job done, I guess," she said after she finished laughing.
We sat down against a wall, and looked at the equipment all set up. It was weird for me to see. I grabbed the notebook and pen sitting next to me.
"Hayley, my love, would you like to write a song with me," I asked. She looked at the grungy notebook, and then at me.
"Of course, my love," she said, the same way I did. "But what will it be about?"
"I'm sure we'll figure it out," I said.
It's a long way home,
When you're on your own,
And your only friends are the traffic lights,
Speaking in morse code,
(Yea) The road is long,
And I am tired,
But with you on my horizon,
I will drive until it all breaks down
'Cause I can't breathe without you near,
You keep me safe,
You keep me sane,
You keep me honest,
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight,
Chasing tomorrow,
With fire in my eyes, (yea)
You're like a siren in the dark,
You're the beat playing in my heart,
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight, (yea)
Spent my whole damn life,
Trying to get things right,
And for every one of my mistakes,
You gave me all these chances,
When the roads too long,
And I am tired,
You are my horizon,
And I'll drive until it all breaks down,
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight,
Chasing tomorrow,
With fire in my eyes, (yea)
You're like a siren in the dark,
You're the beat playing in my heart,
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight, (yea)
(You keep me safe,
You keep me sane,
You keep me honest, honest, honest, oh woah
You keep me safe,
You keep me sane,
You keep me honest)
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight,
Chasing tomorrow,
With fire in my eyes, (yea)
You're like a siren in the dark,
You're the beat playing in my heart,
You keep me alive,
On the edge of tonight, (yea)
We're on the edge of tonight
Edge of tonight
You keep me safe,
You keep me sane,
You keep me honest, honest, honest (standing on the edge of tonight)
On the edge of tonight
On the edge of tonight
On the edge of tonight
"Hayley! Alex! Are you ever gonna get in the shower so we can meet up with everyone else," Rian yelled down the stairs. I held Hayley's hand, but then stood up. I helped her to her feet.
"I'm gonna take the quickest shower of me life," I said. Hayley laughed, and put her hands on the back of my head. She quickly kissed me, and then raced upstairs.
