Chapter 21 : Somber Affair

Both of them were silent the whole flight back to the mansion. Because of the revelation of feelings, they talked about earlier. None of them feel like talking. Lucifer tried to form words but he can't say anything without tearing up again. So he just kept silent as he carried Lawrence with him until they landed in front of the mansion, His wings shrinking from his back.

Lawrence looked at him with a sad smile and timidly said

"Thank you for the date."

Lucifer just forced a sad smile back but it only turned for him to look down and nodded. They walked along until they reached the front doors and opened them. There in the main hall stood Donovan dusting off some furniture. He saw them and he had a concerned look at both of them.

"Your majesty, Lawrence, Are you both alright?"

"Not now Donovan." Lucifer said as he walked to his office.

Donovan was about to talk to Lawrence but he just went passed him and went straight up to his room without a word leaving him confused.

Lucifer sat on his leather chair feeling defeated. He was supposed to wait until he settled his marriage with his wife but he got caught up in the moment of his feelings for Lawrence he acted out confessing it too soon and now he has to bare the pain he caused himself. Their relationship might be strained for a little while but he's willing to wait and make things right for his lover. It hurts to admit it himself but he'll have to give the both of them some distance.

He saw on his table that there was a pile of new paperwork for him to work on. He wasn't really in the mood for it but he has no choice unless he wants it to flood his office. But first, he needed to make a phone call. Pulling out his phone, he scrolled through his contact list until he found Stola's number. He did promise Lawrence a job to work under him after all.

His opinion of Stolas is quite neutral. As long as he doesn't harm his lover, hell won't break loose. He thinks Lawrence choosing to work in Charlotte's hotel is a reckless decision so he just quickly thought of Stolas as an alternative for Lawrence's employment. Stolas may be a bit flamboyant but still powerful in his own right for keeping his reputation as a prince. And for that Lucifer thinks he is the best demon to leave Lawrence under his care while they put some distance between each other.

Finally found Stola's number he dialed it and waited for a few minutes until his voice sprang out from the other line.

"Lucifer, my Lord. What can this little messenger bird do for you?" Stolas answered in a good mood.

"Prince Stolas! Hope I'm not intruding on your time? I have a specific request for you." Lucifer said as he laid back in his leather chair.

"Request? Elaborate my Kingly-ness." Stolas questioned asking Lucifer about his request. Stolas would never deny a request from a king, not even the most ridiculous ones.

"I'm sure you've heard of the human here in hell through the news? I'm asking if you could take him under your wing as your worker? You know how I can't always watch over him. Busy life I'll say!" Lucifer said as he taps his fingers on the table.

"Oh, so you're the one who claimed the human? Well, for your information your majesty. I would love to take him under my wing. I hear your little pun, haha! Is that all you require?"

"Why yes it is my feathery friend! Just be easy on his tasks. You know how fragile humans are! and always keep your eyes on him... Or else." Lucifer said the last part harshly.

"Through the thick and flames, you shall never see your human friend harmed!" Stolas made an oath joyfully.

"Wonderful! I'll be sending my dearest lad to your residence tomorrow morning! Pleasure talking to you princey~ Haha!" Lucifer joked as he put both of his feet on the table relaxing.
