Ngisi lang ang itinugon ko kay Criane. I eventually gave her a shrug dahil hindi ko alam kung anong mali ang ginawa ko kagabi. I just told Kyne to bet on me! Because I will make him want to stay here, I'm sure of that. She walked faster, naka-corporate attire pa dahil mukhang papasok pa lang sa school.
"Norine!" she pulled me. "What did you do?!" mahina ngunit mariin niyang tanong.
I pouted and crossed my arms over my chest. "I just talked to Kyne! That's all!"
"Swear to Lola Ymelda's grave?!" she threatened me. Umirap ako't suminghal. I flipped the ends of my curly hair and held onto my bag's strap. "See?! You're guilty?! Anong ginawa mo?!"
"Ugh! Stop being so OA! I just.. Told him my name! That's all! Ano ba'ng pinagkakalat ng mga fourth years, huh?!"
"Na nagkalat ka raw! Na hindi ka pa rin daw nakaka-move on sa delusyon mong magiging kayo ni Kyne!" she was going hysterical. "I just had a couple of drinks and you already humiliated yourself like that!"
"Magiging kami talaga, Criane!" I spat. She scoffed and raked her mid-length hair. "Paano naman nakarating ang mga ganiyang fake news sa mga fourth years? Sino'ng nagpakalat? Si Sibal ba?! I will fight h-!"
"No! Hindi na importante kung kanino nanggaling pero, Norine! Contain yourself!"
"Masama ba ang ginawa ko?" tinaasan ko siya ng kilay.
"Yes!"
"I just made the first move! Ano'ng masama?!"
"Everything! Hindi ka kasi nakikinig sa 'kin, sinabi ko na sa 'yong maghintay ka lang or get over it!"
"Bakit, ang babae ba bawal mag-first move? I just did what he would never do, ako na nga ang nagsimula ng love story namin ako pa ang masama ngayon? Aba! Sobra naman ata!"
"See?! Anong love story?! That man's a playboy, bet on satan's soul if he even has a heart!"
"Malamang mayroong puso si Kyne! Paano siya humihinga kung ganoon? Paano siya buhay ngayon? He just need to activate those chemicals in his heart for the reaction to occur," I defended.
She looked frustrated, "And you told him you'll make him want to stay."
"That's a fact. At least tama ang mga pinapakalap niyang tsismis."
"So you really told him that!"
"Yes!"
"Eleanor Caroline, you're one damn stupid teen ager," she hissed. "Tame yourself. Ano ka ba naman?!"
"I don't see anything wrong with my actions, Criane," umirap ako sa kaniya't tinalikuran na siya. She groaned. "Bye! Love you! And I'm so sorry!" I waved my hand but didn't look back.
Agad akong naglakad patungo sa science department building at nag-elevator 'til the fourth floor. I was nibbling with my lips as I wait for the lift to show my room's number. Wala namang maga-asar sa 'kin.
And I think it's better for people to know that I am still very much into Kyne, at least they'll know how to back off. I smirked in an instant. I will get what I want. Akala ba ni Criane nagbibiro ako?
I'm very much determined to turn the tables to my favor. Maybe now he's not interested, or he finds me like a laughing-stock, ni hindi na nga niya matandaan ang pangalan ko. Pero soon. Soon he won't be able to laugh at me nor forget my name.
I swear that to my deceased grandma's grave!
"Norine! Alam mo ba usap-usa-"
