Get off me! Get off me! I can't breathe, I am going to drown. I am kicking and thrashing my arms around the best that I can, but it's not enough. I feel like my arms and legs weigh a ton. I am running out of air. Then all of a sudden, I feel someone grabbing my shoulders and calling my name...
"Shannon! Shannon! Everything is ok, I am here. Wake up, it's just a dream. Please wake up"
As the fog begins to lift, and as my eye sight begins to clear from my tears, I can see Ethan looking scared and concerned for me.
Ethan continues to console me, "You're ok, you're safe now. Just breathe, and try to relax".
I am covered in a cold sweat, but I am starting to remember what happened. I remember that Ethan saved me from those horrifying creatures. I remember the beach, and then getting into a car. But after that, all I remember was feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. I must have passed out in his car. But how did I get here, wait a minute, where the hell am I?
Ethan must have seen the way I was looking around the room and trying to put the pieces together. Then he said,
"This is my penthouse. You're safe here. I brought you here because I couldn't wake you, and I don't know where you live."
He then helped me up to a sitting position and gave me a glass of water. After I took a sip of water, he then gently cupped the side of my face with his hand, and wiped some of the tears I shed with his thumb.
"Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back." Ethan got up off the bed, and left the room.
I took this time as an opportunity to look at my surroundings. This room is amazing; it's not overly large, but it's magnificent. It's stylish and simplistic. The ceiling is tall with a massive window on my left; it starts at the floor level and goes up the wall and across the ceiling, what an amazing view. There isn't much furniture to speak of, just a king size bed, with sleek floating night tables on either side, and across from the bed is a large gas fireplace with a plush area rug in front of it. There are two rustic, but chic looking doors on either side of the fire place; I assume one must be for a bathroom and the is other likely a closet. The room has double french doors which leads out to what looks like a den. Just then in Ethan walks in with a stack of fresh towels.
"You're welcome to wash up here if you like. And if you want, you can wear some of my clothes if you want to change, but you should probably call your parents to let them know that you're OK. I hope you don't mind, but they called your cell several times, so I answered it. I explained who I was, how we met, and that because I didn't know where you lived, I brought you here. For now, your parents are content with that information, but your parents are worried. I assured them that as soon as you woke, I would get you to call them back. But before you do, I need to ask you a couple of questions".
Oh my god, my parents are probably going bananas. I mean, it's not a trust issue, we have a transparent relationship and they trust my decisions, but they don't know Ethan and his intensions. In fact, I don't even know Ethan, so I can't say what his intensions are either.
"Who are you?" Asks Ethan.
Huh? What does he mean who am I? How do I answer this.
"What do you mean? My name is Shannon Taylor, I just moved here with my parents and because of Bree, you already know that, and you know that I'm a senior at Bantam High."
"Yes, I know all of that, but maybe I should rephrase the question, what are you? And why did you not use your magic on those water fairies?"
WTF!? Water fairies? I am officially going loco. I should just walk to the nearest hospital and sign myself in and sign my name as NUTS.
"Honestly, I'm not even really sure how you want me to answer those questions... Magic?? What are you talking about?"
"OK. This is all starting to make sense now."
"Well, I'm glad that one of use understands what the hell is going on. Could you please fill me in since I clearly have no idea what you're talking about."
Ethan then took my hand in his, took a deep breath and looked me in the eyes.
"We don't live in the world that you think we do. This is going to be a lot for you to take in, if you need me to stop at some point just let me know. Firstly, what I know is that you are a Witch, but you also have a Wolf. The allergic reaction that you had to the wolfs bane in your tea was not actually an allergic reaction at all, it's because of your Wolf, it's it lethal to us. The things that attacked you in the water, they are water fairies. They didn't attack Bree because she is human, but because you're a supernatural, they felt threatened. Are you ok? Are you with me so far?"
I take my hand back from Ethan and covered my face, then with my hand partially covering my mouth I said,
"You're joking right? How is this even possible? Witches and werewolves?? They're things you read about in books or watch in movies. Magic and fairies are fairytales. This can't be right, I must still be dreaming, we're not actually here right now. Maybe I'm still unconscious from hitting my head this morning. This can't be real, you're not real..."
Before I completely went crazy, Ethan cupped either side of my face and kissed me. I resisted at first, but then with his touch, taste and smell I began to relax.
"Does this feel real?"
