3: Maylin's Past

{Leo} (going into Leo's world for once oooooh)

I walked into Yogtowers, heading to the common room to meet up with May. We were supposed to be discussing the arrangement of "Are You Listening".

Then, I heard the singing.

(this is May's fabulous singing in italics)

I peeked into the common room just in time to see a tear slide down her cheek. Sparks and Parv were on their way, Kogie was talking to Martyn in the hallway.

She was in a jumper, and in jeans. She had her earphones plugged into her ears, so hopefully she can't-

"Leo?" She said, sitting up. Shit. She saw me. "Wha... What are you doing?" She looked... Scared.

"I... I heard your singing." I sheepishly said, twiddling my thumbs, head down and blushing.

I really love her, really. I have loved her ever since Smith first introduced us to her. She, she's just amazing.

"Where's Kogie, Sparks and Parv?" She tilted her head, looking so cute.

"Kog's doing God knows what and Sparks and Parv are on the way." I replied.

"Um, okay."

"May, why were you crying?" I mentally slapped myself. Leo, you fucking idiot.

"I... I..." More tears threatened to spill out her eyes, and she was trembling. I sat down next to her.

"Shh, it's okay. You don't have to explain." I rubbed her back, her smiling at me.

"I'll tell you." She smiled, eyes red from tears. "I was 4 when I got kicked onto the streets with Smith. He was, 13? We... We got taken in by this elderly woman on the street, but each and everg night I'd have nightmares about my... My parents." She trembled further. I got up from my seat and closed the door to the common room.

"They... Kicked us out because they were fucking douchebags and they abused us like shit. Smith was strong though." She teared between every word.

"And no, not sexually, they abused us verbally and physically. And they had very, very colourful vocabulary." She started crying for real, she shook like crazy.

"They... They..." She stuttered and lifted her jumper sleeve. I widened my eyes. Cuts from wrist to elbow, all dried up, but all quite deep.

"May..." I skimmed my hand over all of them.

I turned towards her, and she was looking down. I lifted up her head by her chin, and the distance in between us was decreasing. We closed our eyes, and-

Then, there was a knock on the door.

"WAIT!" I yelled, asking May to hide somewhere out of sight. I forgot we in Yogtowers, shit.

"Leo?" I heard Sparkles* say from the other side of the door.

"It's nothing!" I opened the door and Sparkles* and the rest of the gang were standing there.

"The fuck?" Kogie said. I couldn't explain.

"May's gotta go to the bathroom, she's got a bloody nose." I said, signalling from behind me for May to come out. She slid past everyone and ran in the direction of the nearest bathroom.

"Leo, what was going on?" Parv asked me, everyone else nodding their head in agreement.

"Uh, we were talking about stuff." I said, blushing.

"AWW! MAYLIN AND LEO SITTING IN A TREE, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Sparks yelled and Parv and Kogie burst out laughing. I blushed even harder.

Maylin eventually came back, looking like she didn't cry at all. We discussed the arrangement for the music video, then headed home.

-BACK AT THE LEOGIE FLAT-

M- Meet me downstairs of your flat in 5.
L- Why?
M- I... I need to talk to you.
L- Okay.

I yelled to Kogie that I was going down for a while, and he didn't reply. I went to check on him, and low and behold, he was snoring away.

I went downstairs and saw May using her phone. I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned.

Her face was red and her eyes were puffy. She was a fucking wreck.

"Leo... Leo, My... My... I..." She struggled to speak.

"What? May! Talk please." Tears threatened to spill out of my eye sockets, I hate seeing her like this.

"My... I... had a panic attack." She trembled, obviously terrified.

"Shh.... It's okay, it was just an illusion." I rubbed her back, my heart beating a mile a minute. Don't screw this up, Leo Taylor.

"My... My parents were there, and they... They were shouting how worthless I was, and, and, and, Smith wasn't home... And I just sat in my room and panicked Leo... I was so scared... I hated them..." More tears slid down her already wet cheeks.

And as if on cue, it started to fucking rain.

I teared slightly at the sight of her so scared. Is this what happens all the time at home? Dear God, she is usually so happy and cheery.

"Come on, it's wet and cold here, I'm sure Kogie won't mind." I grabbed her hand and pulled her more into the shelter, and I unlocked the gate. I pressed the lift and we went up to my flat.

"Kogie! May is here! Just for maybe a few hours!" No reply came. Maybe he was still sleeping?

I walked into his room and he wasn't there. I then got a text from him. Speak of the devil.

K- Went out to get groceries because we have no more cereal. Anything you want?

I texted him back.

L-Nope, thanks.

I turned back and told May to go take
a shower, seeing as she's drenched.

"But my clothes?" She tilted her head. Damn it, she's so fucking adorable.

"I'll put them in the dryer. It's okay. You can something of mine." I said, grabbing a shirt and a pair of sweatpants. "Here." I passed them to here.

"Tha...Thanks." She smiled, accepting the clothes and heading to the bathroom.

She turned around and grinned before closing the door, making butterflies explode in my stomach.

God, when will she notice?
