"Everyone's staring at me," Sirius laughed, "It's embarrassing."
"I didn't think that Sirius Black ever got embarrassed?"
"Yeah, well..." Sirius muttered.
"You've got a right dirty laugh; do you know that?"
"It sounds terrible, it's the smoking."
"I didn't know you smoked?"
"Yeah, I do. I tried to give up, but as you can guess, it didn't go well."
"Ah." Remus let out a sigh. "Can you believe we're actually going to meet tomorrow?"
"Only seventeen hours left to go now."

"Thanks for the lift, drive." Remus muttered to the driver as he climbed off the bus into the pouring rain. He let out a sigh and waited for the bus to move on before crossing the road.
"Remus!" Remus turned to his neighbour.
"Hello, Minerva. How's the leg?" Remus nodded to the walking the elderly woman was clutching.
"Not great, not great at all. Are you still going on your blind date tomorrow?"
"I wouldn't say it's a blind date, I mean, we've been talking on the phone for six months. We just haven't met in the flesh like."
"What time are you off?"
"First thing. I'm cacking myself, I am."
"It'll be fine, I'm sure."
"Thanks."
"I'll let you get out of this rain. See you love."
Remus watched Minerva enter her own house and close the door before letting himself into his. Hanging his coat up on the way, he made his way into the tiny living room.
"Dad, I'm home!"
"Heya, love. Was that Minerva out?"
"Yeah." Remus took a seat at the small table in the corner of the room.
"How's her leg?"
"Yeah, fine."
"Fancy something to eat?"
"What is there?"
"I can make you an omelette?"
"Go on then," Remus grinned at his dad. "Lil will be here at six."
"Does she want something to eat?"
"I don't know. I'll ask." Remus fished his phone out of the pocket of his jeans and clicked on his best friend's name.
"Hiya, it's me."
"Alright, Rem?" Lily's voice floated through the phone.
"Dad's making an omelette, you want one?"
"Nah, but I've got something to tell you."
"Ooh okay."
"I'll tells you later."
"Alright."
Remus ended the call and placed his phone down on the table before grabbing a magazine and starting to flip through it.
"So?"
"So what?"
"Does she want one?"
"Nah, she don't want anything."
"Alright." Lyall disappeared into the kitchen leaving Remus with his magazine.

Sirius pulled into the driveway, at the Potter's house, before taking off his helmet and shaking out his hair which fell around his shoulders. He climbed off his bike and dusted himself off before letting himself into the house. He placed his keys in the dish on the sideboard as his phone started to ring. He grabbed it out of his jacket pocket as he placed his helmet down on the stairs.
"Yeah?"
"Are you sure about tomorrow?"
"Ugh, it's you, Prongs. Of course I'm sure."
"You don't even know him."
"I do know him."
"You've never met him."
"You can know someone without meeting them, you know."
"Still."
"What's the big deal?"
"He might try something with you."
"He's bringing a mate and I'm bringing you."
"Is his friend fit?"
"I don't know."
"Ask him."
"No, I'm not ringing him to ask if he can text a photo of his friend just for you."
"Ugh."
"It's too late now, anyway."
"I'll see you in a bit then."
"Alright."
Sirius hung up and shoved his phone back into his pocket as he made his way into the kitchen.
"Hello, Sirius."
"Alright, Effie?" Sirius grabbed some orange juice from the fridge.
"No, not really. I'm absolutely shattered. I've been crying all afternoon."
"How come?"
"That pet rescue. There was this badger, and all its litter died. You could actually see the mother badger crying."
"I don't think badgers can cry."
"Nor did I, but I know what I saw." Euphemia Potter stood up and stretched, "Still, life goes on. Monty will be home in a minute, and those steaks won't cook themselves."
