CHAPTER 18

"Hmm?" I responded when Jai called me.
I'm in my car now. I used the backdoor of the restaurant to escape the scene I hate to see. And I thanked Ram for distracting Famie and Jai, I was able to get out of their sight for a moment.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't get in touch with you. Where are you now?" I heard him sighed.
"Nasa bahay na." I lied.
"Ikaw?" I used to have the happy tone just to avoid any comments from Jai. I know. I know that I should understand him also. He has gone through a lot. From responsibilities down to the management of their company.
"I'm on my way to office."
"Ibaba ko na, you're driving right?"
"No, please. I want to hear your voice."
Halos patalon ako dahil sa bosenang dumaan. Shuta! Kahit kailan talaga hindi maasahan 'tong daan.
"Where are you exactly?" He asked.
"Uhm, nasa bay walk lang. Nagpapahangin." Kahit nauutal ako, I made sure to cover my sad tone to him.
"Hmm, can I see you?"
Nataranta naman ako roon, "No, may trabaho ka diba?"
"Are you mad?"
Ang kulit talaga kahit kailan.
"Hindi ah!" I tried to be sound happy, I even faked my laugh.
May bumosena naman mula sa aking likuran kaya naman nataranta ulit ako. Shuta naman! Tiningnan ko ito at nakita ang isang taxi. Hinayaan ko na rin.
"Are you in that Audi?" Tanong bigla ni Jai. Nataranta ako at tumingin sa paligid.
"Bakit?" I even open my window to see the environment. Umalis naman ang taxi sa aking likuran at doon na rin nagparke ang itim na McLaren.
Bumusena ito at nagsignal gamit ang ilaw.
Hindi na ako nagtaka, it's Jai. Sana naman hindi niya alam na naroon ako kanina sa restaurant.
Bubuksan ko na sanan ang aking sasakyan para lumabas ngunit biglang pumasok sa shotgun seat si Jai. He's holding his phone in his left ear.
"Saan ka galing? I mean diba-" He cut me off,
