ONE AND A HALF MONTHS LATER

As it turns out, the designer could do a lot with the dress.

She made the train shorter, took off the long sleeves, took off some of the layers of fabric, and cut around the bodice and added lace upto my collarbone.

The designer also rearranged the beading pattern and added more lace to make it more unique.

I love the way the dress turned out and I know Calix will love it too.

After the makeup artists and hair stylists prepare me, there's a knock on my door.

"Come in," I call.

When I see Deborah step inside the room, my heart sinks. What is she going to do now?

But to my surprise, she pulls a dark blue velvet box out from a bag in her hand and hands it to me.

I open it and see a silver knife with a moon pattern on it.

"That knife belonged to the Alpha King's mother. He wanted you to use it for the ceremony, since you don't have your own."

"Thank you."

"Thank him, not me." Then she pulls something else out of the bag. "Here are some gloves for you to wear. It's a common traditon for the female to wear gloves during the Mating Ceremony in the conservative packs. This will help get their approval of you."

After I put on the gloves, Deborah leaves the room and I'm left with the stylists.

"Should I get my dress on now?" I ask.

They nod and help me put it on.

When they're finished, I take a nice, long look in the mirror and touch the single pearl resting on my collarbone.

I look stunning.

As I'm looking myself over in the mirror, the stylists place a royal length veil on top of my head and secure it with a tiarra.

Once I finish looking at myself in the mirror, I ask one of the stylists, "Is my mate ready yet?"

She nods and says, "He's been waiting for you for thirty minutes."

I blink. "Oh. I should probably go out there then."

The stylists help me down the platform and onto the floor. I'm so glad I choose not to wear heels.

When they open the door, my eyes instantly land on Calix.

He's standing with the High Priest, who's wearing a silver veil over his head, and as soon as Calix's eyes land on me, a huge smile appears on his face.

"Is that my mother's dress?"

I smile. "Yep. With some alterations, too."

"Are you both ready to begin the ceremony?" the High Priest asks.

We both nod and the High Priest motions for us to follow.

As we walk around the circular temple, the High Priest stops Calix at a door and tells him to wait for one of the priests to open the door for him.

At one of the next doors, the High Priest stops and asks a priest to guide me the rest of the way.

The priest leads me another quarter of the way around the circle before he stops me at a door.

It only takes a couple minutes of waiting before the door finally opens.

The center of the temple is huge. The glass ceiling, which lets in the bright light of the full moon, towers at least three stories high. The marble floors have curved white pews with dark blue cushions that leave four aisleways open.
