"What kind of life am I living if I can't even trust my own manager?" Logan asked in frustration as he paced the length of Kate's living room.
After they had discovered the phone, Logan was ready to rush downstairs and confront Maxwell. But Kate had stopped him, dragging him out into the guestroom, where they had a whispered discussion, and Kate managed to convince him that confronting Maxwell wouldn't do anything. He would deny any accusations they could throw at him. They needed to be subtle about it.
"He can very easily say that he simply dropped it by accident and you know that. We need to be smart about this, play the long game," Kate had told him.
Once he had calmed down, Logan walked back to his room and got dressed for the day, leaving Kate to get dressed in the guest room where all her things still sat.
"We should look into moving these things to my room," Logan had remarked as he was stepping out of the room. Kate had laughed at this.
"That's insane. Maybe the shower stuff and the more casual things, but this stuff would never fit in your closet. You have as many red-carpet-worthy and fancy dinner outfits as me. No, this amount of stuff requires a serious walk-in closet." Logan had left it at that.
Ten minutes later, they met at the top of the stairs, and Logan had Maxwell's phone in hand. Kate had dressed casually in a pair of black high-waisted jeans, one of Logan's maroon button-up shirts which she had tied at the bottom, and a matching pair of flats. Logan on the other hand, seemed to have dressed to complement her, in a pair of black trousers and a maroon hoodie paired with a pair of Nike sneakers.
The pair rushed down the stairs and stopped in the living room, where Maxwell sat typing away on his laptop.
"Maxwell, we're heading out for the day. Oh, and I think you dropped your phone in my room. Here," Logan said, placing it on the coffee table as he passed. The couple didn't say a word as they got onto the elevator, but once it began to descend, they burst out laughing.
"Did... you see his... face?" Kate wheezed. Logan could only nod as another fit of laughter overtook them. They continued to laugh all the way down to the lobby of the building. But as they stepped out through the main entrance to the outside, the laughter died almost instantly. An army of paparazzi stood gathered, taking pictures of them as they walked out of the building towards the town car that stood waiting for them at the curb. The flashing lights and loud questions about Kate's return to the city were enough to curb the laughter. As soon as they were in, Logan's driver drove off, heading straight for Kate's apartment.
Once there, the reality of the situation seemed to hit Logan, who had been pacing in the living room since they had arrived 20 minutes ago. Kate had decided to let him be, choosing instead to turn on her tv, where she watched a clip of them stepping out of Logan's building laughing.
"It seems that our favorite couple is united once again! After the accident, the couple seemed to have skipped town for a few days, and it is rumored that they went off to visit Kate's family at her home back in Paris. After a few days Logan was seen coming home, but there was no sight of his gorgeous girlfriend, until this afternoon, when they were spotted coming out of Logan's building, dressed in the cutest set of matching outfits. So, where did they go? This couple sure is a mystery, right John?" one reporter with a southern accent spoke.
"Damn right. But what I want to know is what the hell is so funny?" the one referred to replied.
"I mean can we just take a second to admire this outfit coordination? And that has to be Logan's shirt that Kate's wearing right-"
"Do these people have nothing better to talk about? I mean seriously. Why must they focus on every little bit of our lives?" Kate groaned from her spot on the couch as she watched the three presenters drone on about their clothes.
