The next day, the announcement Logan had made to the paparazzi gathered in front of his building that morning was everywhere.

Kate and Logan had spent the night together, cuddled up on the sofa. When they woke up Logan was more than ready to finally make the announcement.

So after a quick breakfast and an even quicker shower, the two walked hand in hand out to the car that waited outside, ready to take her back to her apartment.

They stopped and finally answered a few of the paparazzi's questions on the way to the car, starting with "Is Kate your girlfriend?"

Now, as she sat on her sofa watching tv, Kate couldn't help but be amused by how big the story was, taking over front pages and headlines everywhere.

Her phone had been beeping incessantly all morning before she finally switched it off and considered for the hundredth time, getting a new number. She needed to get ready to go and meet her father at the hotel he was staying at, but before she left she paused to watch the E! story on her and Logan.

"It's official! Our favorite couple announced this morning that they are indeed in a relationship! Logan was walking his girlfriend to her car this morning after they spent the night together when he finally confirmed that Kate is in fact, his girlfriend. He also went on to state that they hadn't been officially dating for very long, but it already felt like a lifetime of happiness. Stay tuned for more news on our favorite couple! We'll be counting down our top ten favorite Kate and Logan moments, after the break."

Kate couldn't decide what was funnier, the fact that they had enough pictures to do a countdown already, or that they believed the 'lifetimes of happiness' line. She was still chuckling to herself when she stepped out of her room a few minutes later, wearing black yoga pants and a dark blue hoodie. She needed it to look like she was only going for a late-morning jog.

A few minutes later, she stepped into the hotel lobby, out of breath. She had circled several different blocks before coming here, to ensure that she wasn't being followed.

Not bothering to speak to the receptionist, she walked right over to the elevator, waving her key card at the scanner inside the elevator.

Knocking three times at one of the many doors, Kate waited a moment before sliding her key card across the slot and opening the door. Stepping inside, she chuckled softly at the sight in front of her.

Luc, Andrew, and Jac sat around a small table playing poker with American candy. The three of them had always had an obsession with American candy, and they knew exactly where to get what.

They briefly glanced up at her, before turning back to their game.

Walking past their table to get to the adjoining door, Kate paused to steal a Twizzler from Luc's pile. Ignoring his cries of protest, she opened the door leading to the next room, where her father was actually staying and stepped in.

The decoy room was just a precaution; can never be too careful in this line of work.

"Bonjour papa et Marcos,"(Hello Dad and Marcos) Kate chirped as she walked into their suit. Marcos stood staring out through the window and Jacob sat at a desk, typing up an email on his computer.

"Bonjour ma chérie," Jacob replied, looking over at her as she dropped onto a sofa and bit into the candy she stole. Marcos also noticed, and he chuckled when he realized what she had done.

"Your face is everywhere today," Jacob remarked, turning his chair to face her. Kate nodded.

"We made the announcement earlier this morning," she told him, taking another bite of her candy.

"Does he know what he's getting into?" Marcos asked, never once turning away from the window.

"I told him last night," she answered.

"How did he take it?" Jacob asked, one eyebrow raised.

"Surprisingly well. It didn't change a thing for him. Even when I explained that this would make him a possible target," Kate answered, running a hand through her hair. All her life, these two were the only people she would allow herself to be vulnerable with. She allowed herself to have her walls down with them. After a moment of silence, Kate finally declared the fear that had been bothering her all morning.

"I'm so scared of him getting hurt."

There was silence in the room for a moment, before Marcos walked over and sat down next to her.

"Because you care about him. Somehow, I don't know how, but he found your soft spot. It's why you don't want to walk away, despite no longer having a reason to keep you here," he spoke softly, in a tone that was reserved for Kate and Kate alone. She looked up at him, and he saw the fear in her eyes.

"I can't afford to care about someone like this. It's a vulnerability, and I learned my lesson last time," she whispered.

"Maybe it is. But it's a good vulnerability. It's the kind that will make you stronger in the long run. Don't pull away from this boy ma cherie," her father spoke, coming to stand in front of her. Reaching down, he pulled her to her feet and pulled her into his arms. Kate relaxed into the hug, letting it melt her fears away.

"I'm sorry I taught you to fear love," he whispered into her shoulder. She didn't answer. Instead, she held him tighter. They stood like this for a moment, until finally, Kate found the willpower to step back.

"Ok, enough sappy talk. We need to discuss a few things," Jacob declared as he stepped back to his desk chair. Kate nodded, sitting back down as well.

"Kate, I have to ask. Do you trust this boy?" Marcos asked gently. Again Kate nodded.

"I trust him," she answered, her voice never wavering as she looked Marcos right in the eye, daring him to challenge her on it. He only nodded.

"I'm leaving Luc and Andrew here," Jacob declared, leaning back in his seat.

"I have enough men Papa," Kate tried to reason with him, but he raised his hand to silence her.

"Consider them an addition to Logan's detail. The Mafia Code will only protect him from other Mafia. There are still other threats out there."

That was enough to silence her arguments.

"Oh and one more thing. Simon will be coming next week to join your silent team," Marcos informed her, almost sounding apologetic about the news.

Kate rolled her eyes. Of course, her ex had to be added to the situation.
