There was silence in the kitchen for what felt like an eternity.

Neither of them spoke, instead, Kate stared into Logan's eyes, and for a moment, it felt like she could see into his soul, into the depths of his being.

Logan felt exposed. Like she could see every bit of him.

But he didn't resist it.

For the first time in his life, he wanted someone to see every bit of him.

In more ways than just the sexual kind.

As if coming to a conclusion, Kate nodded once to herself.

"Fine. But now is not the time or place for this. I have guests."

"Do I get to know why they're here and no one can know about it?" Logan asked, leaning back against the counter beside her fridge.

"Can't a father simply visit his daughter in secret?" Kate replied with a shrug.

"You have no idea how messed up that sounds," Logan replied with a chuckle, getting an eye roll from Kate.

"He has business in town. Normally I would handle it but I'm being followed around too much. Which is why we didn't want the paparazzi to know, because next thing you know they would be following him around asking for his opinion of you," Kate explained with a sigh.

"I'm sorry this whole thing is making your life so complicated," Logan murmured, the strong feeling of guilt overwhelming him.

"It's not your fault. This would have happened either way the moment I decided to kiss you that night. At least this way I have control over it." Logan didn't argue further, but the feeling stayed with him.

"Okay, tonight at your place, I'll answer all of your questions," she declared in an effort to change the subject, earning a small smile from Logan.

"But first, we need to deal with those managers of yours. And if I remember correctly from our relationship calendar, today's announcement day," Kate added, earning an even bigger grin from Logan, who nodded.

"I take it that means you've decided to keep this up even after my managers are no longer a problem?" he asked, trying not to sound too happy and failing miserably. Kate laughed.

"Yes, it does. But I think we should keep the actual announcement for tomorrow so that you can decide if you still want to do this after you know everything. For now, we'll just use the announcement as bait for Maxwell," Kate replied. She had evidently thought this through.

Logan nodded along, his mind racing. He doubted anything Kate said to him tonight would change his mind about her, but he was willing to go along with her plan.

A few hours later, the stage was set. It was time to deal with this little threat problem.

Logan was pacing the length of his foyer when Maxwell and Jackson stepped off the elevator. Both were dressed sharply and chatted amiably about the announcement they expected to be released today.

"You threatened her?" Logan's voice boomed through the apartment, startling the two managers.

"What? Who?" Maxwell asked in faked confusion.

"Don't play dumb with me Maxwell. You threatened Kate into doing this thing, didn't you? And Jackson you just stood aside and let him do it!" Logan yelled, his anger forcing the two men to take a step back.

"We had to!" Maxwell yelled back, taking a step toward Logan as if standing his ground after being pushed.

"Money wouldn't have worked. She already has a ton of that. There was no other way to get her to agree to do this! How can you not see that!" he added, his frustration evident.
