Logan and his nameless opponent were quickly out of bullets, with no progress made on either side. Glancing over at Andrew briefly, he nodded once before racing into the lobby, Andrew and Max not far behind him.
The large man behind the reception tackled Logan to the ground.
But he was prepared.
If there was one thing Logan was good at, it was fighting with brute strength. Not just his own but using his opponent's strength against him. In this case, his opponent's biggest advantage was his size.
Logan quickly got the fight vertical, by standing up. Once his opponent was also on his feet, Logan and Max, who had snuck up behind the big man, didn't let him stay up for long.
While Logan kept him occupied by blocking his punches, Max got into position and quickly kicked the man's legs out from under him. His height meant that he was out cold the second his head hit the ground.
Looking around, they noticed that Andrew had already eliminated the second opponent. The three of them raced to the elevator, but before they could get to them, the doors dinged open. A man with dark hair and green eyes that looked like he was in his thirties stepped out, aiming a gun at the three of them.
Logan didn't need to be told who it was, he could see the familiar green eyes he had come to recognize as classic Delaquor features were a dead giveaway. But while Kate's eyes were bright and piercing, Tristin's were dark and clouded with anger.

Back in the hallway, Kate's eyes snapped open as soon as she heard the elevator doors close. Rushing to her feet, Kate ignored the dizzy feeling and rushed to the stairs. As she raced down the stairs, Kate prayed that she wasn't too late. Near the bottom, she paused to remove her gun from her ankle holster, before racing down the last flight and bursting through the door at the end.
Barging into the reception, she found Tristin, aiming his gun at Logan.
"I'd put that down if I were you," Kate murmured, cocking her gun for emphasis as she aimed it at the back of Tristin's head.
But he only chuckled.
"I'm not scared of dying Katie bear. You took everything from me remember? I have nothing left to live for besides making you suffer." Tristins voice cracked as he spoke, but his hand never wavered.
Kate locked eyes with Logan. She wondered if he was even afraid because all she saw in his eyes was regret.
"I realized that I could never get the title of supérieur when I saw how fiercely your men protected you the day I almost succeeded in killing you. I realized that you had already won their loyalty, as their queen. Killing you would only make my position worse because they would never stop hunting me down.
"That's how it works in the mafioso.
"So I decided to hurt you. Not physically, that pain would go away eventually. No, I wanted to hurt you in ways that would matter, in ways that you would never forget.
"That's why I tortured and killed Jordan. I wanted you to watch, as I took something so close to your heart. But I also wanted him to turn on you first, just to make it hurt a little more.
"And then when I heard about this little boy-toy, I saw an opportunity to do it all over again. Luckily, I had a little help from someone who also happened to want the little superstar dead. Be sure to thank Simon for me by the way."
Kate didn't wait to see what he would do, she fired. But even as she pulled the trigger, she knew it was too late.
Just as her bullet hit its mark, Tristin's bullet was also rapidly approaching its mark.
Kate watched, in frozen horror, as Logan mouthed the words 'I love you', just as the bullet hit him.
The world went by in slow motion.
Kate stood frozen, staring at Logan in disbelief, as Max rushed to his side.
But as she watched the blood seep out of his wound, Kate was suddenly filled with a blinding rage.
She fired shot after shot into Tristin's lifeless body until her gun was empty. But she kept going, pressing the trigger over and over again until someone reached for the gun from behind her. Kate hadn't realized she had been screaming until Jac pulled her into his arms.
