I just wanted to say that this story doesn't completely follow the story of attack on titan, I have changed the timing a bit and added some extra things to keep it fresh and different. Enjoy!

I hid behind the rooftop, observing the scene below. This was risky, we all knew it, but Erwin decided to go ahead with the plan nevertheless. Since the female titan incident, we hadn't been on any expeditions since her identity was Erwin's priority and we were pretty sure we had figured it out.

Watching carefully, I could see Mikasa, Eren, Armin and Annie had reached the opening of the tunnel. It seemed to be going okay so far, maybe Eren was right and she is innocent.

Something changed, Eren and Armin's face changed and I could tell something was wrong. Annie began laughing her head off while holding onto her arm. This was it, we had to be prepared for her to turn into a titan any second now, god I hope they are ready.

Then it happened, "Now!" Everyone shouted and they managed to get a tight grip on Annie before she could turn, exactly like how we planned. Was it really that easy? Surely not?

I squinted my eyes and noticed something at the same time as Mikasa. She pulled the two boys into the tunnel with her and I shouted out to warn the others, but it was too late. Annie had a ring on her finger with a blade which she could use to cut herself and therefore transform.

An explosion went off from where she turned and everyone was flung backwards. I flew off the roof, flying into a nearby street but I managed to hook into a wall before I hit the floor. I looked below me to see Erwin and Levi. Shit I forgot Levi is unable to fight. They both looked at me, Levi clicked his tongue in annoyance and Erwin nodded at me to proceed. I nodded back and used my gear to fly up into the air, catching sight of the female titan, Eren had yet to transform.

So it was true, Annie really was the female titan. I didn't know how to feel, I wasn't that close with her but she was still my comrade in the 104th cadet corps and we had personal chats throughout those years. I couldn't say I wasn't hurt, it stung quite a bit, but I had no time to acknowledge that.

I hooked into her leg and aimed for her weak spots. Using my gas, I dashed towards the back of her knee and redirected my hook into a nearby building, flipping upside down while slashing both knees. She managed to avoid the second gash by moving her leg, but I still had cut a deep gash into one of them which would put her at a disadvantage.

She turned her head to me, anger on her face. Great, if I distract her it allows the others to escape.

I cocked my head and smirked, looking her dead in the eye, challenging her. She quickly twisted her body to throw a punch at me, which I dodged by shooting a hook into the ground. I used the little time I had to divert from the ground and duck between her legs, flying up to her head level. She used her hand to cover her nape and her other to throw more swings at me. I used the opportunity of her stretched-out arm to attach to her shoulder and spin around her arm, cutting it while I did, everything was a blur but I knew I was too fast for her to catch me so I didn't have to worry. Her whole arm was sliced up and she fell against a building, trying to heal her legs.

As she leant against the building, it reminded me of that day and rage engulfed me. I had never got the chance to get my revenge and I was so angry at myself. She squashed them like they were bugs, like their lives were worthless. I narrowed my eyes at her.

My clothes and hair were wet with her blood, but I wasn't done. I hooked into her back and spun around her upper body, I slashed her other arm and mangled her waist, slowly circling up her as I ripped into her flesh until I blunted my blades. Flying up to her face and landing on her nose, I made sure she was looking directly at me as I stabbed both my blades into her eyes, causing her to yell out in agony. I replenished my blades and tightened my grip on them, feeling proud of my work on her.
