An Ackerman's secret

"Check out who's here." Nanaba said as we reached the floor that the others were resting on. They were all sat around a campfire, looking glum. From what I could tell, everyone was here and no one had died luckily.

"Mila!?" they all spoke in unison. I held back tears that started forming as soon as I saw them and I gave them a sad look, not wanting to hide what just happened.

Christa stood up and spread out her arms to pull me into an embrace. I accepted it and appreciated the warmth of the fire as I felt her rub my back with her hand while I rested my head on her shoulder. Christa was one of my favourite people to cheer me up, her presence is extremely comforting and I know I can talk to her about anything.

"I'm guessing Miche is-" Connie started. I replied before he could even say the word with a nod and he immediately stopped talking. I pulled away from Christa and she smiled warmly which I tried to copy but it was the fakest thing ever.

Reiner patted the floor next to him for me to sit down and I did, not even caring about how uncomfortable it is. They were all pretty quiet and I wondered what I missed, which reminded me that I needed to inform them of what they missed.

"There is a titan, I think it is a titan shifter because it is intelligent. It looks like some sort of beast and it was able to control the titans as well as speak."

They all widened their eyes, wait until you see the ugly thing in person. I blamed it for Miches death, we had those titans under control until he came along and he showed no mercy whatsoever, whoever is controlling that titan is disgusting and evil.

"The wall hasn't been breached, so where are the titans coming from then?" Christa spoke softly. Wait what? There isn't any hole in the wall? Surely they missed it or something because how else would there be titans within the wall, unless this new titan has something to do with it. Considering the fact that he might be able to control them, it is likely that that is what happened.

They continued to talk and I tried focusing on the conversation, but my mind kept drifting off. What could this mean for us? If titans are able to get inside the walls without a breach in the walls, then surely that makes the walls useless, which means we are completely unprotected.

And if the beast titan is the cause for all of this, then that makes him our main target alongside the colossal and armoured titan, who I'm guessing now are also titan shifters and were probably working with Annie.

I was brought back to the conversation going on when Ymir burst into laughter, "Ha! So your mum was a titan, Connie?" She burst out laughing, clutching her stomach as she did. "IF THATS THE CASE THEN WHY THE HEL ARE YOU SO TINY, HM?!"

She carried on blurting out whatever came to her mind and I could see Connie was fed up. I didn't even really know what they were on about and sure Ymir might be trying to light the mood up, but it seems serious and important to Connie.

"JUST SHUT UP AND GO TO BED, YOU BITCH!" He retaliated, glaring at her. She finally shut up and stood up, walking around the castle and going into different rooms. Everyone started to find a comfortable position to rest in and I noticed Connie was one of the only ones who wasn't.

I moved over to him once Reiner also stood up and followed Ymir. He didn't look at me when I sat down next to him, he just kept looking at his hands.

"What happened? If you don't mind me asking." I snuggled up next to him which put a small smile on his face. Connie was always the one making jokes and cheering people up, or simply annoying them as a way of taking their minds off things, so seeing him like this was saddening.

"My village was destroyed.. but no one had been eaten. And, on top of my house was a titan who couldn't move, and well...it kind of resembled my mom." He explained. I widened my eyes, believing him straight away. Surely it isn't possible, how would that even happen? But if Connie genuinely thinks that it might be his mom, then I have no reason to doubt him and we will have to figure it out.
