I got my eyes on the prize. Fight 'til the day that I die. Can't knock me down and that's why. I got 'em all the way up. Taking this moment, it's mine. Brighter than bright, I will shine. The minute the sun had risen, the people of Sorgan were out beginning to fish or warm up for the assignments the Mandalorian and Cara Dune would be giving. Alaina was one of those people waking up before even Din had. She tied her hair into a ponytail and made her way outside receiving spotchka from Omera as breakfast. She didn't know what to expect from the day. Didn't know what Cara or Din would have them do to prep for the battle. She knew nothing of battles or how they worked, but she knew she had to do her best for the people of Sorgan.
When the village gone quiet minutes later, Alaina turned her head seeing Cara and Din walk over to the center of the village already having people rush over to be given instructions. Alaina drank the last of her spotchka and jogged over in the wave of villagers hearing right off the bat how the day was going to go.
" You got two problems here. You got the bandits, and you got the mech. We'll handle the AT-ST, but you gotta protect us when they come out of the woods." Din explained pointing to the tree line right behind them." And I don't have to tell you how dangerous they are. Cara Dune here was a veteran. She was a drop soldier for the Rebellion, and she's gonna lay out a plan for you, so listen carefully."
Alaina could tell the last part of Din's sentence was aimed towards her given he stared directly at her or at least his helmet was.
Cara nodded her head walking forward," Now, there's nothing on this planet that can damage the legs on this thing, so we're gonna build a trap. We're gonna need to dig real deep, right here." She said pointing to the marsh that surrounded them." so that when it steps in, it drops. The two of us will hit their camp. Provoke them. That'll bring the fight out of the woods and down here to us."
" I'm gonna need you to cut down trees and build barricades along these edges." Din explained pointing to the areas he wanted them. I need it high enough so that they can't get over, and strong enough so that it can't break through."
Everyone nodded their heads grabbing the supplies they would need to cut down the trees and make the barricade. While the men used axes to cut down the trees, the women grabbed knives sharpening the edges and carving out some spared spears. Alaina carefully held the logs cutting each end groaning when she noticed others having better grip and sharper edges. She concentrated trying to get the right angle when the blade slipped cutting her finger.
" Ow!" She hissed loudly.
It was enough for Din and Cara to turn, Din more alarmed when he seen the blood racing down her finger and arm. Cara, however, found humor.
" Oh, did someone get a boo boo?" She teased causing Alaina to glare at her.
" No." She said about to walk to get a cloth when she stepped on a soft part of the ground falling into the marsh.
When reaching the surface, her face flushed in embarrassment hearing everyone that saw laugh in amusement and even the children that were once playing stopped to point. The only person to not find amusement, was Din feeling bad that she had gotten hurt twice, but she would never know due to his reaction being masked by a helmet.
" Alright, let me get some training with spears." Cara said winking at Alaina.
Slowly getting out the marsh, she looked down to the ground when walking passed Din and went into the barn quickly changing into some drier clothes before heading back out seeing Cara had a line of villagers waiting for spear training. Cara gave clear instructions showing how to properly hold the spear and even some jabs that could work on enemies. When she deemed them ready, she stood to the side and nodded.
